Pre-KODE5 with AlesKi
We had a chance to speak with one of the UK's top players, Alex "Aleski" Way about team dignitas before the upcoming KODE5 Global Finals in Moscow, Russia.
Aleski would like shoutout to:Recently, it was announced that you as a team were switching organisations from The Last Resort to dignitas. What were your motives behind the move? How are the team fitting into the organisation, and how are you finding it?
We felt dignitas could offer everything we as a team could ever want. Stability, fantastic management, good atmosphere, dignitas has all these things. Whilst TLR was a good organisation theres alot dignitas has that they simply can't offer us right now.
We understand that Suffian "suffz" Arshad cannot attend the event due to University Exams. Who is his replacement? How is he fitting into the team and how do you think that this move will affect your preparation before the event?
It sucks hard that Suffz can't go, he's as gutted as anyone. We have RedH to replace him who won the KODE5 qualifier with us a few months ago. We've done our best to get him up to speed and we'll have to see how it goes when we arrive in Russia. How have you been practising for this event? Have you been conducting a boot camp like most of the attending teams?
Afraid due to work commitments we havn't had the chance. However, we have been playing online and just trying to get our teamplay to the best level we can with the time we have had with RedH.
This LAN is massive for the United Kingdom CS scene and dignitas, how have you been preparing for it and what do you expect from the event? Are dignitas looking for a podium finish? Or are they looking to have fun and cause some big upsets?
I think, since we are without our best player, realistically if we take down a top 10 european team we can go home and say job well done. It's the first international event for 3 of our line-up so I guess we're going to make sure whatever happens we learn from it and use that knowledge during our ESWC and WCG efforts.
KODE5 will be one of the biggest LANs this year, and it plays host to some of the biggest names in the scene such as fnatic, MYM and SK Gaming. Do you feel that these names are as big as they used to be? Are they as strong as they once were?
Defiantly, if not more so than they were, they have every tiny detail of their technique down now. They've played every scenario so many times they just always know how to counter. I think thats where we are at the biggest disadvantage right now. Experience.
fnatic, SK Gaming and MYM are just a small proportion of the well known names that will be attending the event, are you fearful of playing any opponents, or are you just looking to learn from the experience to come back better and stronger next time?
No, not at all. We are the underdogs. If we lose, big deal, we'll move on to the next game and be better for it. If they lose, it's a huge upset for them. We don't really have anything to fear going into this event.
dignitas are certainly one of the major underdogs in this event, how do you hope this event will change that? Are dignitas going to be attending any other LAN events this year, if so how do you see yourselves doing at them?
Yes, it only takes one game to get people talking about you. People are very fickle like that. We are attending WCG and ESWC UK Qualifiers, hopefully we will take 1st place at both. And then after that we will have to see whats next.
Team Dignitas, Intel, Scan Computers, DELL, ZyXel, Creative, Abit, Razer, Qpad, Multiplay, Bouncer4You.
dignitas will be in action at the KODE5 Global Finals this weekend in Moscow, Russia. Once again, HLTV will be your home during the event providing you with up-to-date demos, galleries and results.
