Cloud9 stun NiP 16-7

Cloud9 moved up to second in Group A following a 16-7 win over NiP on de_nuke.

After losing their first match in Aspen, Cloud9 entered this game in a must-win situation, and they got off to a good start in this match as they took the first three rounds of the first half thanks to a triple kill from Jordan "⁠n0thing⁠" Gilbert in the pistol round.

The first gun round also went Cloud9’s way, which allowed the North American side to take a 5-0 lead, but then NiP finally managed to respond and win their first round of the game despite finding themselves with a two-man disadvantage early on.

A quad kill from n0thing in the following round frustrated NiP and completely broke the Swedish team’s economy. As the game wore on, Richard "⁠Xizt⁠" Landström’s side became more and more desperate to get a couple more rounds on the board and make a potential comeback on the CT side a little bit easier.

With n0thing and Sean "⁠seang@res⁠" Gares running high on form, NiP had to rely on the raw skill of Adam "⁠friberg⁠" Friberg, who gave his team their second round of the match with a triple kill in the 13th round. Still, Cloud9 remained calm and collected and won the following rounds to take a 13-2 lead going into the second half.

n0thing inspired Cloud9 to a great win

In the pistol round, Mikail "⁠Maikelele⁠" Bill gave NiP the round on a silver platter with two opening kills outside, which deeply hurt Cloud9 before they could even make a move.

The following four rounds also also went to NiP, but then a timely upper push from Cloud9 broke put a stop to the Swedish team's winning streak. Two great AWP kills from Shahzeb "⁠ShahZaM⁠" Khan then put Cloud9 on the verge of getting their 15th round, though the hero turned out to be Mike "⁠shroud⁠" Grzesiek with a 1-on-3 clutch on the lower site.

It was a hard blow for the DreamHack Winter runners-up, who also conceded the following round. Their hopes of reaching the semi-finals now lie on beating KaBuM, who are about to face dignitas after thrashing Cloud9 earlier today.

nip are good as fuck on nuke, if i remember everything right, they raped almost every single team on this map by taking 12 rounds as T.(i mean in 2013/2014, first time they got beaten was vs cloud9 @ cologne and then hard match vs vp @ dhw 2014) this loss is probably have other reasons.

Not really fun to watch for me. It's retarded seeing how worse teams can beat better teams (not only this match) just because BO1's are so random and unpredictable.

Didn't bet. Rarely bet on BO1 matches. I just want to see some good CS, not random and most of the time 50/50 matches no matter what teams are playing eachother just because of the random factor of who starts the better side or who counters who on one single map.

Nip's nuke is really Bad now. Lost to dignitas last time. Now cloud9. They were once the best team on that map, wrecking cloud9 13-2 on t side. What happened?

nuke is also one of the strongest map of cloud9 and dignitas...and ho could u see there isnt unbeatable team

I think old nip would've turned that game around, it's at times like this you see what a big role fifflaren had in the team.

Old NiP lost 16-8 to C9 on Nuke at Cologne. Don't really think that one extra round would have saved them the way C9 was playing this map.

It brings me great pleasure to wake up this morning to the result of Cloud9 beating NIP. This pretty much sums up what I was saying in the thread I started last night - sick of little kiddies branding teams as "shit" and all this lighting candles bollocks, get a grip of yourselves and grow up a bit, if you have the capacity to. One team playing exceptionally well and gaining momentum will always have the capacity to shine and cause an upset - no matter who they are playing. So, everyone who was moaning last night saying RIP Cloud9, what do you have to say for yourselves now? Surely that makes NIP shit? Don't think so.
