Katowice qualifier with WinneR, F3

The second European qualifier towards the ESL One Katowice offline qualifier is almost over with WinneR and Flipsid3 advancing to the grand final following wins over 3DMAX and LGB, respectively.

The second European qualifier kicked off yesterday evening with over 431 teams taking part in the last-chance tournament for three ESL One Katowice offline qualifier spots.

Most of the bracket was played out on the first day, the most notable teams getting to the round of 16 were 3DMAX, Property, Flipsid3 and LGB, but also German WinneR, who bested Planetkey Dynamics in the round of 32.

WorldEdit's Flipsid3 pulled through in the end

3DMAX went head to head with WinneR who continued to surprise by beating Property, as well as the Finnish side in the last stage of the qualifier, the semi-finals, 2-1.

Despite 3DMAX starting off strong 16-4 on de_dust2, WinneR showcased the same form on de_mirage, and won the deciding map de_cache 16-11.

In the other semi-final Flipsid3 - without Oleksandr "⁠s1mple⁠" Kostyliev of course, who is banned from all ESL-affiliated events - tried their luck against LGB, and went on to go up 1-0 after a solid Counter-Terorrists side on de_cobblestone.

The second map was de_mirage, where LGB tied the series after showing a good Counter-Terrorists side combined with a pistol round win as Terrorists for 16-4, 1-1.

Flipsid3 started off as Counter-Terrorists on the decider, de_inferno, and got a fairly good 9-6 lead. LGB then got the pistol, but Flipsid3 took six rounds in a row for match point.

The thriller ended up with the Ukrainian-Russian side winning in the last possible round following a strong Terrorist side, largely accounted to Yegor "⁠markeloff⁠" Markelov's showcase.

With these two teams qualifying for ESL One Katowice offline qualifier, the team list is following, keep in mind that the third-place decider between 3DMAX and LGB is still yet to be played for the third spot.

It is not yet known whether WinneR will be able to participate in the end, seeing as four of their players were involved in one of the betting scandals of this year, then under myRevenge's banner.

Epsilon's slot will most likely be redistributed as well, as Joey "⁠fxy0⁠" Schlosser confirmed that some of the team's players were handed a one-year ban for all Valve-sponsored tournaments.

Who are you talking about?

3DMAX/LGB will get a spot. Epsilon will get removed and the loser of the match will get the second spot. I guess if 'WinneR' gets kicked from the qualifier, they will just make a new online qualifier. You can still have your hopes up with your mix team, cadian x)

We complained about that too when they took default victory against us. We won 16-13 then they used some rules where they didn't have matched steam id with the website(which is weird cus he could join the server and everything).

u realise that esl doesnt provide the servers like for example faceit instead the teams themselves have to take care of the server theyll play on ur argument is fkin dumb its not even a bit weird that he was able to join the server furthermore wire was developed to detect cheats and not wrong steam ids

I do realise that. Though, the ESL client can interact with steam and see if correct user is playing. I.e when you go online on wire you get these logs and it would be an improvement if they also showed online/offline steam status somehow.

Got informed by ESL admin that Valve are investigating if they threw or not. If they threw Valve will be able to locate skins etc and ESL will take action. I hope we can play the game against Property like we were suppose to.

I heard that too, but it was just rumors by some Bulgarians here on HLTV. Honestly, would like to see gplay playing on top lvl, since that would mean that Balkan gaming can improve, but while they have dreamer in team, they will not be able to do anything more than playing smaller events. Sadly.

Something is wrong with 3DMAX mentally. They keep losing these "big" matches all the time. Seems that it is once again impossible for a Finnish team to perform as a favorite and in must-win situtations. They lost in front of the home crowd in the final against that young, relatively unknown Danish team back in the summer. Couldn't win against I think CPH Wolves in Dreamhack LAN qualifier, a match where they were on a driver seat for the most parts of the game. Crumbled big time against Titan when they realised they might actually win the game. And now this? Sure they have a chance to proceed if they win the Norwegians but if they don't then there is something wrong with the mindset. EDIT. Need to give credit also for winning Dignitas on LAN in a group-decider, that was a big win.

I think 3DMax are playing much better atm than like 3 months ago, they just need more practice and godlike strats + consistency ("expect" allu, hes been consistent), but I gotta agree with that mindset might not be good.
