ESEA sends KaBuM to Katowice

KaBuM captain Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo has confirned that his team have raised the money to attend the offline qualifier for ESL One Katowice.

KaBuM reached the 25,000 Reais target (approximately $9,000) thanks to a $2,500 donation from ESEA, which will also purchase the players' plane tickets because it takes two weeks to get access to the money from PagSeguro, one of the two payment companies through which community members could donate to help the team.

The players also received an impressive $1,400 donation from Robin "⁠flusha⁠" Rönnquist, who decided to support the Brazilian team by giving them a portion of his winnings from fnatic's IOS Pantamera campaign.

KaBuM will attend the event in Katowice

KaBuM stayed in Denver after attending MLG X Games Aspen and Clutch Con to practice for the event in Poland, hoping that they would be able to raise the necessary money to make the trip.

Most of the funding came from community members who donated through a website set up by KaBuM earlier in the week for this sole purpose.

I'm not sure if ESEA really has that much money. They have impressive prize pots and organize great events but I suppose that most of the big money that goes around comes from sponsors etc. They must have their share of expenses too, it's not like doing all that is free. So in that sense they might not have that much spare money to spend around compared to flusha who has won like 75 thousand dollars already and depending on what he does (I assume Sweden's social security is similar to Finland's) he probably may not even have to spend the prize money for living expenses. Of course, flusha's donation is much more impressive because he is a private person, it's more of a nice gesture. Rather than for ESEA which this is pretty much all marketing, I guess they've figured out that they will gain more than they spend by doing this. Good for KaBuM either way.

They didn't have to pay 1 million in fines, it was around 300k and they will have to pay the rest only if they act wrong again. I wouldn't be surprised if their insurance covers it too and they're likely going after the employee to get their money back. Anyway, seems I underestimated their wealth a bit.

You can see a trend in donations. KaBuM.TD played at MLG vs Cloud9, dignitas (TSM now) and NiP. And played vs fnatic at clutchcon. Sitting in their PCs? Hopefully, no one sits inside their pc.. On a serious note, most gamers sit at their pc right? So probably yes, they are gonna sit at their pc's an try to get an invite.... What really divides Kabum from some teams from Europe that didn't get an invite, is that Kabum get smashed out of the group play in every single tournament that includes other continents than south america.

sorry for english mistakes but I'm happy you understood after all what I meant is that I never saw any team putting so much efforts to get in (I think I used it right this time) the proscene like they're doing.. correct me if I'm wrong... it is easy stay safe (what I called "in their PC's" rofl) and blame hurrr i deserve i'm better durr but how many teams would stay in a foreign place asking for donation to eat/sleep/travel? they aren't top tier or even tier 2 right now but these boys have balls and are taking the risk to have a CHANCE to live of what they love (sorry for drama)

Good for these guys! Even though i'm NA biased, I was actually disappointed to see that KaBuM wasn't going to be able to go due to money constraints. Mirage may be the only map the they're proven on but I believe that these guys can bring in some aces and make it out of groups.
