Official: NiP to try out new players

Ninjas in Pyjamas have confirmed that they will try out new players in the future as they look for a potential replacement for Mikail "Maikelele" Bill.

Earlier on Friday, reports in Sweden emerged about Mikail "⁠Maikelele⁠" Bill possibly being on his way out of NiP, just days after the team's disappointing campaign at IOS Pantamera, where they finished next to last in their group.

The Swedish AWPer will act as a stand-in for Orbit at this weekend's Nordic Masters event, which means that he will most likely miss NiP's double StarSeries header against HellRaisers and EnVyUs, on Sunday.


Maikelele's spot on the team is currently in doubt

And while NiP state that Maikelele is still part of the team, they will "try out" new players in the next few days to see if they can find a better fit.

"The Ninjas in Pyjamas CS:GO team are going to try out new players for the time being, to see if there is a possibility that they find a better line-up than the one they have today," a statement from NiP reads.

"Maikelele is a great talent and a very good player, but lacks a certain amount of experience that is required in order to have a permanent spot in the NiP line-up.

"Much more than pure talent is required in order to play professionally on an international level. 

"Maikelele is still a part of NiP and has been informed of his shortcomings and now has a chance of working on them. In other words, the CS:GO team still consists of the same five players, but we are open to trying new players for the upcoming period of time.

"Maikelele adapted well to the CS:GO team, meaning there are no other aspects to this decision but the sporting ones that are the base of this evaluation period."

Maikelele was recruited on a trial basis in November following the retirement of Robin "⁠Fifflaren⁠" Johansson and helped the team to win ASUS ROG Winter last month with stunning performances that saw him named the event's Most Valuable Player.

During his time in NiP, the Swedish giants have also finished second at DreamHack Winter and MLG X Games Aspen, but a disappointing campaign at IOS Pantamera could have spelled the end of his time on the team.

NiP currently have the following roster:

I'd like to reveal another aspect of this topic, namely the dissapointment of NiP players and management. I think they are really dissapointed for some reason, because they started to search a new fifth player 1, Like this 2, Just 4 weeks before Katowice. Something is terribly went wrong within the team and if this negative attitude continues I won't be surprised if GTR or f0rest retires.

+1 Maikel was one of the main reasons NiP was performing, but at the same time if he played like shit then NiP will not perform as well. Look at DHW, at the final he almost carried NiP to win, until the team screwed up and started to overextend on Overtime which costs NiP the title. Also at ROG he carried the whole team to the podium. Then at pantamera when he sucks so bad, the team lost terribly I still remember just back before DHW, people say like "NiP don't need star players, they have GTR & f0rest" and now they release this statement. Why can't they find a suitable strat for the team, instead of shuffling players like them brits Disappointed af with this statement

if anything they should be trying out new players for the position of Xizt, not maikelele. You know a player can't be bad when he can at least carry a tier 2 team. I haven't seen any of those possible candidates, namely twist schneider or delpan, carry their tier 2 as hard as maikelele did before nip. Remember when maikelele and delpan used to be in property the former was the one carrying hard at every game while the latter was sucking. What i mean is if you can't even carry your tier 2 team, i don't see what you can offer more than maikelele.

Twist does it just as good as Maikelele did. Difference is im pretty sure Twist thrives on motivation, which should be close to 0 when NiP and fnatic have stable lineups. Playing in Property isnt really a motive to put up alot of hours in order to be the best lets face it.

Not really. As far as player cam allowed us to see during the recent tournaments maikelele seemed the kind of player that was always pumping the crowed to support them and pulling the team spirit's up. Maybe it isn't like that on online games tho, we'll never know for sure.

He was a solid player for NiP and was topping the scoreboard on many occasions. Even though many people underestimated the impact that chemistry has on a team's performance (Fifflaren), looking for alternatives to maikelele because they've had a stint of bad results is a very poor decision. You don't just add a player and demand great results straight away. It's not how it works. You have to rebuild strats around the new player, form a new team chemistry and balance as well as allow for the new player to settle in. I wonder if this may be a move forced by the hand of sponsors for NiP to be the best again.

i can see this being a bad move by nip. they want instant result which reminds me of the SK era at the end of 2011 - 2012 when they replaced delpan with dennis then trace looking for quick result but end up winning nothing. But this is never going to work. Look at VP they sucked in the early months with byali and snax then after a few months they won katowice. And its not like NiP had a bad start after adding maikelele, they went into finals 3 times in 2 months ffs.

Twist is 1 level ahead of him, considering both awping and rifling skills. On the other side in current nip lineup, forest is also much much better with awp, but if nip would make him as main awper, they will loose their best rifler... So makelele needs to be replaced by Twist ASAP ! Doubt about delpan, knowing his inconsistency... He can deliver sometimes, but as long as motivations is high, otherwise ...

This is literally RETARDED. When NIP were loosing hard with Fifflaren they didn't even think about changing the roster (5th player) but worked on their strats/gameplay. But now when they have Maikelele (imo better sniper than Fifflaren, he may yet not be adjusted to this kind of AAA level gameplay he is kind of promising succesfull player)they start to go literally NUTS. In 2 of 3 last tournaments Maikelele were the biggest surprise in NiP (after their vacation etc.) He's been top fragging/entry fragging/getting important picks. So after 1 lost tournament where whole NiP performer poorly(yes performed poorly because they could win ESL cologne in 4 players [9-44 fiffy]) they want to find more suitable player for them? Who? Twist? Schneider?(not very good past with him). I'm not really judging any side but in my opinion problem lies within other 4 players and their old habits? (used to play in stable 5, still using same strats?) This is most likely looks like back-stab from NiP and literally beign childish. IMO they won't get better AWPER unless they get JW Swedish/NA scene drama. We lose tournament let's change roster :D Hate incoming in 5..4..3..2..1

He has been playing well but the problem is that although his highs are very high, in between those he makes silly mistakes, especially as ct. Getting a lot of frags is nice but if you lose rounds as CT because one guy is playing like he has 10 redbulls in him, and rushes in for retakes alone etc or takes 1v2 fights when backup is on the way.. then its a problem. Maikelele seems to be so fired up sometimes that he cant help himself, he just goes for it. I think this is the main problem. Imo he has been outstanding as T

They can look for another 5th as long as they like, but unless they gonna try to fix the real issues, it wont matter in the long run. Maikelele did ok, he got hyped, but he didnt fail. He played good for a new player and wasnt the problem for NiP. He handled the awp as he was supposed to and did help NiP in that regard. It was an upgrade for sure. If they wanna have something to do with winning majors in 2015, they have to reach fnatic/EnvyUs level and they cant do that with xizt in the lineup aswell as a inconsistant friberg. Xizt best days are over and he would have been the first guy id have replaced, not fifflaren. I doubt that GTR, f0rest, friberg, xizt + X can reach the individual level of the mentioned top 2 teams.
