fnatic win King of Majors

Hosted by E-frag.net and sponsored by hitbox.tv, King of Majors pitted the four European teams to have won major tournaments (NiP, fnatic, Virtus.pro and EnVyUs) against each other for $15,000 in a double-elimination tournament.

Curiously, it was the former LDLC team, the current major defending champion, the first side to collapse in the tournament following 0-2 defeats against NiP and Virtus.pro.

With Marcus "⁠Delpan⁠" Larsson acting as a stand-in, NiP fell short against Virtus.pro in the consolidation final in a three-map thriller thanks in no small part to an impressive display from Janusz "⁠Snax⁠" Pogorzelski, who boasted a 1.40 rating in the series.

fnatic, who reached the grand final after beating NiP and Virtus.pro without dropping a single map, had a one-map advantage going into the tournament decider, which used a best-of-five format.

With Freddy "⁠KRIMZ⁠" Johansson turning in a great performance, fnatic moved past Virtus.pro 16-14 on de_nuke and 16-9 on de_cache to complete a perfect campaign in the King of Majors and add yet another trophy to their cabinet.
