DH announces dates up until 2018

DreamHack has announced the dates for its Summer and Winter events for the next three years.

DreamHack has signed a long-term agreement with the management of Elmia, the Exhibition and Convention Centre in Jönköping, where it has hosted biannual events since 2001.

The most recent event in Jönköping, DreamHack Winter 2014, saw LDLC win the major CS:GO tournament by defeating home side Ninjas in Pyjamas in a nail-bitting three-map game.

LDLC won the most recent event in Jönköping

In December, HLTV.org revealed that all DreamHack events in 2015 will feature CS:GO as their main game, starting with the Bucharest Masters, from April 24-26, which will play host to the season finals of the CS:GO Championship Series (CCS) league.

Below is the full DreamHack schedule of the events at Elmia, in Jönköping, for the next three years:

  • DreamHack Winter 2017: 30 Nov - 3 December
  • DreamHack Summer 2018: 16-19 June
  • DreamHack Winter 2018: 29 Nov - 2 December

No wow at all. DH is the worst host just after ESEA and FACEIT. For now only ESL and MLG (with some improvments in cheating area ofc) should host. Rest is pathetic with delays and no real cheating security. After that shit at DHW14 with cheating by fnatic DH should be banned from hosting csgo events. My local LAN d be more professional than DH.

MLG SUCKED HARD! All teams complained about the delays fnatic went to the event 10 in the morning to play and admins telling them all day in 1 hour you will play in 2 hours you will play just to be ending up playing the day after and not getting info about it so they could go and do something else. Dreamhack have admin behind every team as they play and is usually little delays or they actually give real info how long the delays will be. Played 3 playoffs in 1.6 at dreamhack and never experienced any delays.

dont you remember when titan and envy were sleeping on the scene in chairs cuz there was some big ass delay at 2 in the morning? also admin like lilroban are not trustworthy. we saw how pathetic they handled fnatic cheating case vs. ldlc on overpass. also listen to some relations from players about DH. total shit event easy as fuck to cheat.

What fnatic did would have happened in ANY OTHER event. They were just waiting for the right moment and a major like DHW against a team like LDLC (in quarter or semis, don't recall now) seemed like the perfect spot. It was a vulnerability of the map, not the hosting organization - fact.

Nah, this doesn't change anything whatsoever. Dreamhack is a LAN event for teenagers to bring their computers to so they can play games and spend time together. Of course they will also continue to host tournaments in games like CS, like they and other LAN's have for the last 20~ consecutive years. Just wanted to let you know since you probably come from ESEA or something and think Dreamhack is just an eSports tournament that just publicly announced something that will help CS:GO esports. This was already going to happen for the next 20-100+ years anyway. But good on them for publishing it in advance so people can plan ahead.

The real progress is the announcement of the dates ahead of time so other organisers can properly schedule around it. Remember Esea had to change their LAN finals date last december. Hopefully all other tournament organisers will follow this example so that the tournaments wont overlap so much anymore.

No. Dreamhack has kept to more or less the same dates for as long as I can possibly remember back in time. When I said this was already going to happen for the next 20-100+ years anyway I actually meant it. Ever since I was like 10 years old I've went to lans line Dreamhack and The Gathering and they've never been hosted as much as a month away from the regular dates. Usually the same week every year.

ESEA fucked up. Dreamhack Winter 2014 dates were announced a year in advance. DreamHack is the only tournament that announces their dates so far ahead of time (because they're a huge LAN that needs scheduling in advance, not just a tournament); the real progress would be if other events do the same.

Easier to convince sponsors, is one thing that comes to mind. Imagine if World Cups were only planned 6 months to a year in advance. Doing it this way, they are showing sponsors and other interest groups that they are serious about their business. Although I doubt many think otherwise, when it comes to DreamHack.

DH is not only a CS/Starcraft tournament like Cologne or Katowice, it's a LAN with 10k seats, a huge expo and tons of other events. The CS:GO tournament is just a small part of it.

People think dreamhacks main focus is the tournaments. you clearly never been to a dreamhack. they sell 10000 tickets for computers spots 90 euros for 1 ticket. they sell 20000+ day pay passes where the cheapest go for 15 euros. And the expo area all the companies that pay to get a floor spot. The tournaments is just a small part of dreamhack.
