Xizt: "T side has become stronger"

After NiP secured a top seed from group C with a win over CLG, we caught up with Richard "Xizt" Landström and talked about their journey and Aleksi "allu" Jalli's contribution to the team.

NiP secured a spot in the quarter-finals with two quick wins over Keyd Stars and Counter Logic Gaming, while winning 26 out of their 30 Terrorist rounds with two 13-2 scorelines on Inferno and Mirage.

The team's in-game leader, Richard "Xizt" Landström shared his thoughts on their two matches, tried to compare Aleksi "allu" Jalli's and Mikail "Maikelele" Bill's contribution to the team and explained why Faruk "pita" Pita isn't with the team on-site.

Hit play below to watch the whole interview:

Next up on the list is Keyd Stars' Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo to share his excitement and input on the matches the Brazilians played up until now.

If you want people to improve, you need to pull out something more constructive than "he's so fucking bad". Also, some people don't feel the need to improve. In my opinion he's not bad at all, most of the time you know he watched the games, he seems like a passionate guy, he visibly enjoys doing interviews, he has interesting questions, I don't have much to hold against him except for his monotonous tone, which is maybe due to the fact that he's not speaking in his native language.

Never EVER use a condescending tone with me. He should feel the need to improve, primarily because the target audience generally speak English. Yes he's passionate and enjoying it, like a 9 year old opening a happy meal. His interviews should have structure and he certainly needs more preparation. It's 2015, all areas of the scene are stepping up in their professionalism and this guy should be no different.

"Never EVER use a condescending tone with me." Oh my god, what have I done? More seriously I don't think I was being condescending, I was just stating my opinion, sorry if you felt that way. "He should feel the need to improve, primarily because the target audience generally speak English. " For HLTV's sake and the CS community's, yes he should. Doesn't mean he does, nor will. I think he does though. "Yes he's passionate and enjoying it, like a 9 year old opening a happy meal." I don't think it's a bad thing personally. I don't want to watch interviewers who either don't care or simply dislike their job. Someone who's genuine about his work is always more enjoyable to watch. "His interviews should have structure and he certainly needs more preparation." I think you may have high standards compared to what's available in the e-sport scene, though. E-sport is very young, and it's not an industry as strong as physical sport currently is, it's not surprising to find a delta between the professionalism of their respective members. Also, I personally don't mind a touch of amateurism in someone's job. But hey, that's only my opinion. "It's 2015, all areas of the scene are stepping up in their professionalism and this guy should be no different." To be honest, that's more up to HLTV. If they're happy with his job and the community in general appreciate it as well, I don't think he needs to really step anything up. Maybe he will anyway, who knows? In any case, if you want to see improvements, posting constructive criticism is the only way he's going to listen to you (I know he reads the comments, at least from time to time).

Agree, but it is uncomfortable and he makes players uncomfortable and so the answers lack quality because they can't concentrate properly when he is weirding them out. Should take a chill pill, has been doing these for a while now...

He makes the players uncomfortable? I've not seen that to be honest. He's doing interviews for a long time now, they know him well, I doubt they feel uncomfortable.

I do very much get the sense that they can't look him in the face and clearly say what they are thinking, especially because after answering he often doesn't properly acknowledge or expand on their answer, making them think it was somehow incomplete or non-satisfactory. It just lacks the natural flow of a conversation in that sense, he mostly just jumps to the next question that he also often reads from his notes. And I mean, his english is not bad, but when you talk to someone with some specific grammatical flaws in their english you tend to adjust your sentences to fit that and simplify your answers more than you otherwise would have because there's the fear of not being understood by him that sets in unconsciously. At least if you are not a native speaker yourself that is.

I agree with your points, though I think you overestimate the impact of his level of English. Most pro players who aren't native speakers don't have a much better level than he has anyway. But it's true that he should really try to work on his confidence and ease when talking with other people.

he said pita is working and cant play with em, and maikelele wasnt good team player (he actually didnt say that but thats how i understood it). And i think they knew the teams, but because they haven't played against em they didn't know how they play

It's incredible how Xizt seems like an introverted kind of guy. I think he's probably the most introverted pro player I can think of, everything from his facial expressions to his body language shows shyness and reserve. I wish he was more demonstrative and open. Anyway.
