EnVyUs breeze past NiP

EnVyUs have cruised to the grand final of StarSeries XII after beating Ninjas in Pyjamas 2-0 (16-9 on de_cache and 16-1 on de_inferno).

NiP came into this game on the back of two 2-0 victories, against Titan and Virtus.pro, so it was quite surprising to see such a huge gap between Richard "Xizt" Landström's men and EnVyUs, especially just two weeks after the Swedish side's triumph against the Frenchmen in Katowice.

The first map of the series was de_cache, where EnVyUs picked up 10 rounds on the defensive side thanks to a very strong individual display from Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer. In the second half, NiP still tried to get back into the game, but what they accomplished was merely delaying the inevitable as EnVyus quickly took six rounds as Terrorists to seal a 16-9 victory.

Happy turned in a great display against NiP

On de_inferno, the second map of the series, the former LDLC team were far too hot to handle as they closed out the match just two rounds into the second half after securing a commanding 14-1 lead at the break, with Happy once again topping the charts.

The inferno map was extremely well played by nV, I rarely see them as disciplined and on point like that, usually they always mess up some easy rounds or get caught off guard by clever plays, but this time, nothing worked against them. I wonder if it's a one time thing or if they figured out things on their game. With this level they can arguably take fnatic on a Bo3, but will they manage to keep this up? I wasn't expecting NiP to "give up" like that. At the end it seemed like they were just playing for the sake of playing. Let's hope they don't have chemistry problems with allu, I doubt a third line-up change would be good for them. GL to them in the consolidation final.

they got rekd hard in a single bo3, you cant blame that on chemistry problems when we have seen and even heard how much of a good fit he seems to be for nip, in terms of fragging and in terms of general ingame communication. (there were povstreams for sltv too)

I don't know, I don't speak Swedish so I don't know what happened to them during this match, but I don't think I've seen NiP lose like that in quite some time. I'm not blaming anything, I'm just hoping it's not chemistry, because it would likely mean another line-up change, which isn't good for them at all.

They wouldnt win easily fnatic on this map, their T side is way better than NiP T side. But yes, they played very well

No one would win easily against fnatic at the moment. I was just talking about taking them on on even grounds.

Exactly my thoughts. I always see the hints of nV being able to 16-1 everyone, especially on inferno, but it's like they don't want to some days and just get sloppy. Was also surprised by NiP. With them usually every single second of a game holds the potential of them coming out with the W, and they know that and play with an according mentality. It's rare to see them so sure of having lost before they actually have.

Yup, I think that out of all the top teams, the one which is the furthest away from its true potential is nV. I'm amazed that despite that they can win tournaments and get good placings. If only they would find a way to reach that perfect synergy that fnatic found, we could probably have one of the best rivalries of CS history (and of CS:GO's for sure). I doubt they will be able to though, mentally they're too brittle still.

Definitely. I really think they do not gel as well as other teams might. At least that's the vibe I'm getting in general and with my limited french from the POVs. And gelling is definitely something that puts some teams over the top in terms of synergy. Whatever it is, if nV can get their shit together and hold it there like they did here, I'm also thinking fnatic-nV must become the best, most competitive rivalry. Also agree with the brittleness aspect. They won what, 5 matches against NiP prior to Kato, lost there, and now won another 5 directly afterwards? Screams major choke to me. I've been getting this choke-y vibe from nV since the beginning, and always had this mental picture of Happy saying "we don't do this in my team" and it still is somewhat apparent that the old VG core is more prone to get wonky sometimes and play too careless, while Happy is way colder/more efficient.

Agree, I felt nV playing under some kind of pressure at Katowice, something that wasn't the case at DHW 2014. My guess is that it was related to the pressure of being the previous major winners? I don't know, but I don't think it's a choke related to being into a major. Also, they don't have this cool mindset Swedish teams seem to have naturally, it often makes them second guess themselves or simply go on tilt. nV is a big structure, I think they could surely ask for a psychological coach, I'm confident it would work wonders on the long term. Many sportsmen hire such a coach when they can.

Stop blaming anyone in NiP, everyone played kinda poorly. They didn't even play as a team imo. EnVyUs played amazing, pretty much perfect plays from everyone. And thats the thing, EnVyUs have a edge on NiP. And have had it for the last 6 months or something. GG

Agreed, the whole NiP got outplayed this time, it wasn't just about one guy underperforming. nV currently have the upper hand against NiP, just because they lost to them in Katowice (which was a great game by NiP btw), it doesn't mean they are now the worse team.
