The cycle of roster changes in North America continues at breakneck pace with Luminosity Gaming announcing the acquisition of Peter "ptr" Gurney following his release from CLG earlier today.

Earlier today, following several days of rumours, CLG player Peter "⁠ptr⁠" Gurney was officially released from his team's roster. Later comments from teammate James "⁠hazed⁠" Cobb on Reddit suggested the split may have occurred due to an internal row within the team.

ptr has been able to bounce back rather quickly however as he will now be signed to Luminosity's starting five, HLTV.org has learned. The twenty-four-year-old will be replacing Arya "⁠arya⁠" Hekmat, who himself only joined the team earlier this month in Warren "⁠hades⁠" Rettich's stead.

In-game-leader arya purportedly struggled to commit to the team fully due to having a new born child as well as working full-time.

ptr quickly finds himself another team

Luminosity released a statement clarifying the roster change, which reads:

"Today we announce that our good friend and amazing teammate Arya, has decided to step down from active play indefinitely. Arya has gracefully been juggling full time work, and a new born baby on top of being Luminosity's in-game leader. The team's practice schedule and competitive leagues' new schedules will be very difficult if not impossible for Arya to adhere to with a full plate. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Arya for his services. He has been nothing but professional and a wonderful teammate. He will be missed. We wish him and his new family all the best.

With that, we would like to welcome Peter “ptr” Gurney to the Luminosity Gaming family. Peter will assume the role of primary AWP, while Erik “fl0m” Flom will become a full time rifle. Erik is no stranger to rifling and actually earned his way into the Invite division as a primary rifle during seasons 13, 15, 16 with teams such as XTS and Monomaniac Esports."

With this change, the new Luminosity roster is starting to look quite different from the one that was last seen competing at ESEA Season 18 Global Finals, leaving much to speculation.

Luminosity's lineup is currently:

Jacob "⁠pyth⁠" Mourujärvi
Alexander "⁠LeX⁠" Deily
Peter "⁠ptr⁠" Gurney

Am I mistaken or didn't they say frozt was released from his contract? They said they would keep him on as a salaried player (ie. backup) until something else was figured out. That's not permanent. Everyone wants him back in the actual starting 5.
