Gfinity Masters group draw

Ninjas in Pyjamas and fnatic will square off in the group phase of Gfinity Masters, while EnVyUs have once again been paired with French rival Titan.

Gfinity's eSports arena, located in London, will play host this weekend to the second of four Counter-Strike Masters championships scheduled for this year, with ten teams from all over the world battling it out for the top prize of $25,000.

After expanding its list of participants from eight to ten teams, Gfinity has been forced to make some slight adjustements to the format of the group stage. Instead of a double-elimination format, the group phase will use a best-of-two round-robin system, with the top two sides from each group advancing to the best-of-three playoffs.

fnatic will face NiP in a group stage once again

fnatic, who come into this event on the back of a title-winning campaign at DreamHack Open Tours, will have to tackle Ninjas in Pyjamas once again after the two Swedish giants faced off in the FACEIT League finals, while EnVyUs will lock horns with Titan in what has become a classic at international events lately.

Below you can find the draw in full:

Group A Group B
Sweden fnatic France EnVyUs
Sweden NiP Poland Virtus.pro
Null element Na`Vi France Titan
United States Team Liquid United States Cloud9
Australia Vox Eminor Australia Immunity

People love to hate on NA but sure can't stop talking about them. I would argue that scene has an irresistible love/hate draw to it

They are still considered SA. If a NA team moved to Sweden, we wouldn't label them as Swedes. It's about nationality not location.

NaVi and Fnatic can't both be on top, only one is going to come out as first seed. Depending on fnatic/NiP, whoever does the best there will possibly determine if NaVi pass. If NiP comes out ahead of fnatic, NaVi probably won't. If fnatic comes out, NaVi have a shot because they can definitely beat NiP easier than fnatic(despite fnatic being streaky right now).

C9 had better hope VP doesn't show up, otherwise they don't. They've historically done terribly against NV, but VP can be streaky. Granted, C9's a different lineup, but I don't think they have the skill to beat NV(especially not right now).

I doubt Titan can easily beat them. Titan always seem to have trouble going against teams that are worse then them. If the 2/3 maps chosen for Titan vs c9 would be overpass/dust2/cobblestone then c9 has a chance to win

Yeah 2/6. Kinda wish it was 3/6 and the top team from each group automatically go into the semi's, would've made it more interesting and give other regions a chance outside of groups (NA, OCE)

everyone plays everyone on two maps, and winning = 3 points, drawing = 1 point, losing = 0 points, and win difference is determined by wins and loses on each map.

Group A: Fnatic, NaVi Group B: VP, nV/Titan Playoff: Fnatic vs nV/Titan - Fnatic win VP vs NaVi - VP win Final: VP vs Fnatic: tough match and result depends on pick/bans, 55-45. VP in very good form, only pasha needs to step up.

I don't think so. VP > Fnatic on cobble VP > Fnatic on overpass Fnatic > VP on inferno Fnatic > VP on dd2(but seems like VP is practice dd2 instead of inferno) Fnatic = VP on cache Fnatic = VP on mirage idk if train or nuke is in mappool.

why dd2? The first 'D' isn't needed since every competitive map has a "de_" so you can just asy 'd2'.

Seeing as both them and Liquid have more than one new teammates and only recently formed, both teams should do not so well. Liquid I predict will come last. Hopefully, Cloud9 will beat one of the Aussie teams, but again... too early to gell, so not likely. Give them another month or two and they'll be a much better team.

I think they're using the CEVO tournament system. Win both maps=2 points, draw(win one map each)=1 point, and then round difference to be the tie breaker if there should be a tie for the 2nd place.

wtf only two teams to playoffs... what are these fucking tournament styles. We need more tournies to go international style groups for seeding only, or possibly just eliminate 1/5 teams and make an actual decent playoff bracket.

Group A: 1) Fnatic 2) NiP 3) Na'Vi 4) VoxE 5) Liquid Group B: 1) nV 2) VP 3) Immunity 4) Titan 5) C9 I am kind of annoyed that Vox wasn't put into Group B tbh, they could compete with Titan and C9 easily and even give VP and nV a run for their money on certain maps if they play to their potential. Disappointing not to see any Brazilian teams at this tournament, personally I think BR deserves a spot from NA or OCE. Right now the regions are EU is stomping every other region and OCE is starting to edge ahead of NA and from what I've seen Brazilian teams are on par with NA if not better. So it would be good to see KeyD or another Brazilian organisation be represented to see how the underdogs (OCE, BR) go up against the more developed eSport nations such as EU and NA. Should be good. titan with nV as always. boring. ExploitUs will just run around like randoms, jump scouting, shooting their corpses and throwing off Ex6 like always. he can't cope vs them, but hope he proves me wrong. interesting to see how shit c9 are compared to how shit they were before. good indication of how shit they will in the future.
