mTw, roccat and e-STRO to San Jose

The three teams receiving a berth to the ESWC Grand Finals have been found as MYM fail to advance from the group stage.

Going into the quarter-finals, five out of the eight teams already hold a spot in the ESWC Grand Finals, meaning remaining three teams will automatically receive a berth. mTw, e-STRO and roccat have now secured a qualification spot as MYM failed to advance. The reason why MYM did not advance is that Alternate beat MYM and that overrules the positive round count (we know it says MYM advance in our group stage coverage).

This means the three teams completed one of their two goals at ESWC Masters, will one of them manage to complete their second and win the event?

The quarter-finals will be played single elimination best of one map format. To many a ridiculous call by ESWC, in an interview one of the organizers stated that they wanted more variation of the games on stage.
Quarter-finals – 19:00 CET

Germany mousesports vs. Korea e-STRO
Sweden SK Gaming vs. Sweden fnatic
Denmark mTw vs. Germany Alternate
Finland roccat vs. France emuLate

The match between mousesports and e-STRO will be a ”rematch” of the final at Extreme Masters II. Last time mousesports pulled out victorious, is it e-STRO’s time?

Over and over again. SK Gaming and fnatic continue to face each other in the playoffs. Latest meeting was in the Swedish ESWC final and afterwards in the first playoff-round at WGT DreamHack. Both times SK Gaming came out victorious and feel free to bet your parents house that fnatic want this win.

mTw is up against Alternate. The two faced each other at Samsung European Championship, where mTw changed hpx with whiMp. mTw was going strong but totally lost it towards the end, will it once again be de_nuke and will mTw have a shot at advancing one step further into the playoffs, if so, their big-time rivals from emuLate could be waiting. emuLate will face the new arising team roccat. Possible being a stage match, emuLate will have the home-audience to hold their back all the way.

Remember to place your bet, both with fun- and real money on the coming quarter-finals. Tune in to our ESWC Masters coverage section to find all results and demos from the group stage.

Berth to ESWC Grand Finals, meaning they won a slot. MYM did not advance from the group stage and missed out on one of the three berths.

As defending champions of ESWC, the team did receive a slot for the ESWC Grand Finals. The problem is however that they won it PGS and they have switched to MYM now. PGS did wan't MYM to take the slot, but had to use the PGS name during the grand finals, MYM said no thanks. I have a slight expectation about ESWC inviting them later on though. This was their "last" chance to qualify for the Grand Finals. And you can't buy a spot in the Grand Finals.

forgot the switching organization problem...this is where the bullshit begins...but there is no PGS cs1.6 atm so they really do deserve it...but in the end rules are rules its just sad they wont be there I should have used the main post sry ft loss of time :)

It seems they took into account their match instead of round difference ::) Ps: Nix0n, MYM still listed 2nd in their group which leads to all those 'MYM out?' comments :P

Its logical. Like in sport, while you have two teams with the same amount of points, the winner from their match advances. Round count rule is being used when there are 3+ teams with the same amount of points I suppose.
