Cloud9 invited to ESWC 2015

Cloud9 have announced that they have received an invite to attend the ESWC finals.

The former compLexity team had finished runners-up to Team Liquid in the USA qualifier following a final marred by a DDoS attack on Ryan "freakazoid" Abadir on the final map.

After the qualifier, Cloud9 applied for a wildcard invitation to the ESWC event, and this afternoon it was revealed that they have earned a place in the $75,000 tournament, which will run from July 9-12 in Montreal, Canada.

Cloud9 invited to ESWC 2015

Sean "seang@res" Gares's men will be looking to go one better than last year at ESWC, where they were sent packing in the group stage after surging in a three-way tie with Virtus.pro and LDLC.

The list of participants for ESWC 2015 currently looks as follows:

Sweden fnatic Sweden NiP
Null element Na`Vi France EnVyUs
Brazil Keyd Stars Australia Vox Eminor
United States Team Liquid South Africa Bravado Gaming

Ya lets end it right now when CLG havent even played all the easy teams, and when they've played 2-3 less games than the rest of the teams, logic amirite?

Your response shows how much research you have done. I guess kStars, Nihilium, and LG are all easy teams, logic amirite? And learn to read english. I said if it ended today they would not be in. They were probably Top 2 NA before the ptr stuff or at least that's what everyone was saying. They do have some games against the lower teams, but they can't beat the top teams so what would it matter?

Obviously you didn't see C9's qualification match. The only reason they didn't qualify is because freakazoid got DDoSed the entire game. Last ESWC, there were 3 french teams, even though one of them sucked. A ESWC in NA without the best NA team would be outrageous.

maybe they should fix their ddos issues and stop streaming "A ESWC in NA without the best NA team would be outrageous." The best team wins the qualifier. Liquid won more maps and rounds against eu teams at gfinity, c9 didn't even get double digits in one game against a eu team

I guess liquid didn't do a change of roster before the event. OH wait. They did.. That apparently didn't stop them from winning 2 maps against good EU teams and gathering rounds in general. C9 is garbage, just deal with it. No need to circlejerk around people like nothing who will never achieve anything ever again just because he acts like the clown he is on a stream.

wtf r you talking about? Liquid lost a bo3 yesterday against c9. And for gfinity c9 had a new roster for like 2 weeks. Right now the best team of NA is c9.

Liquid too did a roster change before Gfinity, hardly an excuse not to win a single map, or even get over 10 rounds in one.

You must not follow the scene much. The only reason C9 lost was because of the continual DDOS of fREAKAZOID, and C9 is 13-2 in the ESL ESEA league. They are the #1 NA team at the moment. Yes, Liquid qualified, but the organization set it up so one team qualified and another invite would be offered to an NA team. Who other than Cloud9 should they have invited? Any other NA team other than Cloud9 would be a grave injustice for the work they're putting in and the results they're getting.

If they wanted to invite cloud9 they could have invited them before the qualifier, which is typically how tournaments work. C9 fucked up and they got a second chance because they are a big name team that will bring viewers.

You guys have to realize that travel accommodations are cheaper for a NA team than EU team so that must have also been a factor.

Look eu idiots some NA people r tired of seeing the same old boring eu vs eu. We want to see some NA vs EU bcuz thats when things get interesting, think about it, would u rather watch top tier teams play each other or a low tier team vs a top tier team where an upset could be real. Point is, NA needs some more lan invites cuz for me i wanna see my country kick the fk! outta europe

It's like people don't understand what ESWC is or the fact that Europe isn't in North America and can't take this spot. But y'know, whatever.
