fnatic, Titan through from group A

fnatic have topped group A of DreamHack Open Summer after beating Titan, who secured second place, disposing of FlipSid3 in the deciding match.

Group A of DreamHack Open Summer started off with close wins from both favourites, fnatic and Titan against LGB and FlipSid3, respectively. Fnatic closed their de_cache game thanks to an eco round win, as well as a one-on-one from Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson, while Titan had to come back from a 5-10 halftime score on de_cbble and win an overtime.

The two then met in the winner's match on de_mirage, but despite very close rounds in the beginning, it ended up being a white wash in fnatic's favor, who came out on top following a 13-2 half and a won pistol round.

In the lower bracket, FlipSid3 made light work of LGB on another de_cache before meeting with Titan yet again for the second place.

On a third de_cache of the day, Titan managed to get eight rounds on the Terrorist side, which was enough to close it out without an overtime battle this time around, as Titan secured a playoff spot from second place.

Meanwhile, the BYOC qualifier was on the run and as expected, Kinguin and dignitas were the ones to make it all the way to the top following semi-final wins over AGENT and Exertus, respectively.

The grand final of the qualifier will not be played in the end, as both teams reached an agreement and Kinguin got away with the better seed, getting a match-up with Natus Vincere tomorrow, while dignitas are pitted against NiP in the first match of day two at 17:15 .

Odd. But as long as both teams are happy...

Long day of games, sometimes its just better to get some more rest and play 100% against a better team than 80% vs a weaker one.

The final of the BYOC was just made to determine the seeds in the group of the main event. The winner was supposed to be matched against Na'Vi and the loser against NiP. Instead, the two teams made an agreement as to who they wanted to face, so they didn't need to play the final (since both were already qualified for the event).
