Kinguin lose SKYTTEN for GP qualifier

With just 48 hours to go before the start of the qualifier, Team Kinguin have learned that they will not be able to field their full lineup at the Slovenian event, where they were hoping to save face after a disappointing LAN debut at DreamHack Summer earlier in the month.

Shortly after the team arrived in Poland for a week-long bootcamp, several players complained about feeling sick, with the most serious case being that of Håvard "⁠rain⁠" Nygaard, who sustained a foot infection.

The Norwegian talent is recovering well from the problem after being examined by doctors, but Kinguin were dealt another blow over the weekend as Alexander "⁠SKYTTEN⁠" Carlsson had to be rushed to the hospital after he started coughing up blood.

Late on Sunday, Mikail "⁠Maikelele⁠" Bill and Adil "⁠ScreaM⁠" Benrlitom posted a VLOG on Facebook announcing that the team would have to withdraw from the Gaming Paradise qualifier due to this latest setback.

However, Kinguin have performed a surprise U-turn on their decision and will attend the event with a stand-in for SKYTTEN, who is bound to return home. The name of the substitute player will be revealed on Monday.

Gamers2, FlipSid3 Tactics and Rock will be Kinguin's opponents during this three-day long qualifier, with the winning side securng a slot at the Gaming Paradise, where $50,000 will be on offer.
