Cloud9 see off Liquid in Montreal

Cloud9 are through to the ESWC 2015 semi-finals after moving past Team Liquid 2-0 (16-11 on de_overpass and 16-14 on de_inferno).

The first quarter-final match of ESWC 2015 brought together two North American rivals, with the theoretical advantage going to Cloud9, who had performed incredibly well at the ESL ESEA Pro League finals, one week before.

It was, however, Liquid who came out the brighter in this match as they won the opening three rounds on de_overpass, their choice of map. In the first gun round, Cloud9 entered the long area with ease, which left them in a 4vs2 situation before even entering the site, which they held down effectively.

Cloud9 went on to add the following two rounds to bring the scoreline to 3-3, but then Liquid picked themselves up and restored a three-round lead at 6-3. Triple kills from Jordan "n0thing" Gilbert and Ryan "freakazoid" Abadir in the following two rounds powered Cloud9 to reduce the deficit to 5-6, which forced an early timeout from Liquid.Eric "adreN" Hoag's call proved effective as the team regained control of the proceedings and finished the half up 9-6.

Two entry kills in the B bombsite from Kyle "flowsicK" Mendez in the pistol round as Terrorists further enlarged Liquid's lead, but then they were completely taken aback by n0thing's double Scout kill in long, which put Cloud9 back in the game.

Cloud9 secure a top-four finish

Cloud9 won several rounds in a row to overturn the deficit, and not even Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski's ace in the 25th round prevented them from securing a 16-11 finish.

Next up was de_inferno, where a triple kill from freakazoid in the pistol round gave Cloud9 the start they were looking for. They were able to carry on this momentum and take a 6-0 lead, but their streak would come to an end in the following round thanks to a triple kill from Nick "nitr0" Cannella.

Cloud9 replied immediatelly after, leaving Liquid's economy in shambles and forcing a timeout out of adreN. Liquid would go on to string a few rounds together, but a 5-10 deficit meant that they still had a mountain to climb to turn this game around.

n0thing absolutely demolished Liquid in the following pistol round with a quad kill. Many believed that the game was about to come to a close, but Liquid refused to throw in the towel and started crawling their way back into the game, only to falter when they were one round away from taking the game to overtime.

stats ain't everything bruh. dazed was good at one thing: anti-stratting c9 online. doesn't matter anyway, his career is over now. he's desperate to stay relevant, lucky for him he's got reddit novas convinced they'll get gud if they just listen to his armchair analysis and subscribe to netcodeguides

because it's not true. he was mediocre, he wasn't the lost savior of NA and definitely wasn't going to do anything else in his career besides continue to get knocked out of group stages and anti-strat c9 online.

amazing at anti-stratting c9 so he could boast about never dropping a map to them. only other notable result is a faceit lan no one cared about or prepared for, and an esea lan no one cared about or prepared for. mediocre talent.

Dude I don't care about this, there is plenty of players who can take his places. I don't see why this guy can go from the bottom and instantly play for NA's 2nd best team outta nowhere. It's just astonishing to me

elige is a bit of prodigy in his own right, frankly. but he's raw, undeveloped and needs experience more than anything. over time he will come into his own. will he reach those same heights? I doubt it, personally. I think he will definitely prove that he's a bit of prodigy in his own right, though.

c9 almost choked again. Liquid with the classic lan jitters, missing a lot of easy sprays. c9 caught on to it and silver rushed them for duels.
