CLG Red win ESWC female

CLG Red won ESWC's female tournament after beating Games4u on two maps (16-7 on de_cache and 16-10 on de_inferno).

Eight of the finest teams in the female Counter-Strike scene battled it out in Montreal for their share of a $15,000 pool and the title of world champions, which belonged to the former 3DMAX team.

The French side, who attended the event as Team Acer, were unable to defend their title as they were sent packing in the last-four stage following a 0-2 defeat against Games4u, a team featuring ex-BMG duo Julia "juliano" Kiran and Ksenia "vilga" Kluenkova.

CLG Red win ESWC's female tournament

The other semi-final was a rematch of the Copenhagen Games grand final, between Karma and CLG Red (who were known as UBINITED back then). This time around, Stephanie "missharvey" Harvey's side were the stronger of the two as they ran out 2-0 victors.

CLG Red were able to carry their momentum into the grand final, beating Games4u on just two maps to clinch the seventh ESWC title in their history after previously winning the event in 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

The marketing though... If female gaming could grow a little bit, think of the marketing potential.

I said this on reddit, but I'll repeat it over here: The reason why there are separate women leagues is because sponsors and organizations will pay for it. The point is to grow the market by hitting untapped markets. IF you are a business and get females watching the sport then advertisers will notice the growth potential. If you don't like the product, you don't watch and the esport won't grow. In essence, anyone who bitches about the caliber of the female esports scene is just limiting the growth potential of the CSGO scene. I've seen other esports scenes shun women out of the community and I've seen esport scenes welcome all individuals and I guarantee the scenes that accept women grow far better than the ones that don't.

If females teams really do give a shit about the game, they would work on getting good enough to compete in the main tournament.

That's how every sport is. It's not just physical it's mental as well and worry about your period or thinking about missing text messages can throw your aim off.

a big part of it is because they are in their own league they are stuck facing the same teams at the same caliber as them, if they were to take on the other male teams they would improve and be able to compete on another level.

There is nothing stopping them from competing in lower tier leagues like ESEA Main/Premier if they wanted to.

CLG Red are barely positive in ESEA-IM (intermediate which is the second lowest league in ESEA out of 5 levels : Open, IM, Main, Premier, Pro)

Exactly, because they don't bother competing against anyone except the other tier657 teams in the female tourneys If they actually played against male teams they could play better then DMG MM standard
