For the first interview of FACEIT League Stage 2 Finals at DreamHack Valencia, we talked to Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom, whose Kinguin were invited last-minute in EnVyUs' stead.

Kinguin were invited to FACEIT League Stage 2 Finals after contractual issues on EnVyUs' side, who seem to be in disarray, only two days before the event.

They lost the initial match of the day to Cloud9 and will meet Virtus.pro in the best-of-three elimination match tomorrow. We grabbed Adil "⁠ScreaM⁠" Benrlitom to talk about them coming into the event in the last minute, their roster change and got his opinion on the Titan-EnVyUs moves.

Valve especially prohibited the use of coaches that were involved in matchfixing, so cheaters should fall under the same ruling in my opinion.

It's pretty interesting, that ScreaM doesn't see the new team nV working well... He must know it better than us, fans, but what's wrong with their new possible lineup? I mean, Happy is an IGL, kennyS is an AWPer, apEX is an etry-fragger, NBK is a support player, kioShiMa is simply a solid fragger. Why wouldn't it work for them? Because no shox in the team? But hey, Happy doesn't build his teams around only 1 star player, it's not like it usually is in case of Ex6TenZ' way of leading. So, in this particular case, I have to disagree with ScreaM - the new Team EnVyUs will be better than they're now. At the same time, I don't see a team with shox, SmithZz, Maniac, RpK and Ex6TenZ working at all, because they wouldn't have any entry-fragger, and also SmithZz is in a huge slump, may be because he doesn't like his teammates, may be because he doesn't care about the game overall, but if he still plays at the same level as he does now, they won't really have any sniper, and shox will be forced to waste his rifling skills to be their sniper, which suxx even more, taking into account, that SmithZz, Ex6TenZ and RpK are mediocre riflers.

i actually agree with scream that the new envy wont work out i mean you have a lurker/awper/igl happy,2-3 entryfrager(kio is envys entryfrager together with nbk) and 1 awp player who is in a slump since awp nerf

I guess Ex6TenZ failed to adapt his strats to the new AWP. I mean, when shox left him, and kennyS joined, Ex6TenZ built the whole teamwork around kennyS, relying on his unreal aim with an AWP. After AWP got nerfed, kennyS couldn't play a role of an entry-fragger anymore, Ex6TenZ should have relied more on riflers, but to play well, you need to have proper teammates, in case of Titan they have 2 very weak riflers - Ex6TenZ and RpK. I guess, Ex6TenZ then tried to build a teamwork around apEX, but look at their situation: apEX does an entry frag, then gets killed, and there is only kennyS, who can get himself some kills. Maniac has pretty good rifling skills, but he's a lurker, which means, that his teammates need to divert their enemies' attention for Maniac to kill someone from some unexpected angle, but since they're noobs, they get killed pretty fast, leaving either kennyS or Maniac alone. We will see, if ScreaM is right, in a month, but I guess he's wrong this time. EnVyUs still look pretty balanced after those two changes, while Titan look even more unbalanced.

Anyone else like the idea of what they are going for with the coach being the IGL, I kinda like it, because he gets to completely focus on the game itself, not trying to get any kills, he can see everyones screens, what everyone is doing, what mistakes people are doing, I deffo think if this works out it could be the next big change realistically speaking to the pro scene.

i think its disgusting. for 15 years we've had 5 man teams in this game. a 6 man team now? naaah man. we also have different styles. teams like nip always with a more lose style and xizt was usually their third best player and happy for envyus who was their best player at least for the longest time,... or like karrigan for example^^ on the other hand we have teams that have a clear cut caller in game. hes gonna play support roles and hes not gonna be up on the scoreboard often but his strats and game knowledge and preparation are gonna be a lot better than anyone elses like sgares for example or pronax. i think we should go so far that the coach of the team is not allowed to speak during the game. he can not be on their ts. he stands behind them and hears their calls and finds mistakes and he can speak in timeouts and stuff, but thats it. he prepares the team before the game, but during the game its all on the actual team.

man just because in previous years its been a 5 man, doesn't mean to say you should right out ban coaches because of that, I mean afterall they are the first time to attempt this "coach as IGL" stuff, and I think its a smart and well thought out idea, and if proven successful I think can work wonders in changing the dynamic of the game, at the moment they are using it purely for a Aim heavy team, they don't have very many tactics if not just the basic ones down. So I think they can be easily beaten by a tactic heavy team with a stronger aimmer or two in the lineup. I look forward to see how strong Kinguin can become with this set up. and its definitively a game changer!

well i haven't heard of it being done before, so perhaps i'm wrong on my part. but I'm not so sure about henryG's comment, granted you are not in the game, but you very much apart of it if you are actively talking to the team, you can see all five monitors you can see everything your team is doing and at the same time see everything the enemy is doing through your teammates without them having to explain the situation to you. its like in a sense spectating the game in some form, you see more than anyone else and understand whats happening more than anyone else. at least that's my opinion

i know at least blade did this at dhw when he was bought as a coach by hellraisers. and he was doing the igl for them, which makes sense since next to zeus he is the only capable igl in cis region that ive heard of nowadays.

Finally a team found some use to a coach. In my opinion it's way better that the coach is calling so the 5 actual players can focus on their game. Also the coach has the best view of the game when he's standing behind them. I think more teams should try this. I mean, what else is the coach doing when he's standing behind the players and not calling? Just cheering them up or what? Why is the coach standing there when there's not even use to him. The coach doing the calling could actually work pretty well. He sees all the players and can concentrate solely on the strats. When you're in game you can't keep looking at other players' monitors and you have to be very focused on what you do. Iiiiiintresting.

Arguments about french teams are so bad :D He just uses his anti-french bias towards why would transfer fail. Both Titan and EnVyUS will be in tier 1 easily, swap just ignites new spark.
