TSM take down Cloud9, win FACEIT S2

TSM have won the grand final of the FACEIT League 2015 Stage 2 finals over Cloud9, winning 2-0 (16-14 on de_cache and 16-2 on de_mirage).

The FACEIT League 2015 Stage 2 finals at DreamHack Valencia brought together two teams who had yet to test their mettle against each other in a grand final: TSM and Cloud9.

With the latter team red-hot off of their semi-final thriller against fnatic and the former team having taken down Na`Vi to reach the grand final, both teams came into the grand final with a lot to prove or uphold (respectively) in terms of their international standing in the scene.

With the first map being de_cache, TSM commenced their assault with a pistol-round win and successful conversion of the next two C9 ecos. Cloud9 equalised early, turning mid into a point of contention in the Canadian-American team's favour, which allowed them to grab three rounds and tie up the game.

TSM take first place in style

TSM relied on heavy Danish defensive play, allowing Cloud9 to run into excellent crossfires and grenade set-ups, allowing the team to pull ahead to seven rounds. Cloud9 seemingly flipped a switch in response, with Sean "seang@res" Gares leading his men to more aggressive play and a few more round wins.

The half ended 8-7 in TSM's favour; with the second pistol round commencing immediately, TSM chose a B-site rush and won the second pistol round of the game. Despite some close rounds, TSM continued to power through C9's attempts to equalise, including Nicolai "device" Reedtz winning a one-versus-one on A-site.

Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth helped win another A-site hold by delaying Cloud9 enough to let the bomb go off, bringing the score to 12-7. Despite Cloud9's economic situation being in shambles, the team finally picked up a round once they were able to piece together a set of nades.

shroud put up a valiant struggle on cache

TSM struck back in the next round, and despite Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham getting three kills, the Danes picked up another round and reset C9's money, going up to 14-8. Cloud9 continued their attempts to seize map control and were successful, resetting TSM's money and going up until 14-11 before TSM could buy again.

Canadian Mike "shroud" Grzesiek, needed for the team's peak playing, suddenly stomped into the game on his own and helped defend against a B-site rush with Cloud9 a man down. Teammate Ryan "freakazoid" Abadir had an unfortunate gaff in the following round, which helped TSM gain a man advantage and win the round.

Cloud9 kicked into an extra gear and once again took a map to 30 rounds, however the final round saw TSM execute a classic A-site take and bring down the Cloud9 defense, to win de_cache 16-14.

dupreeh helped with the mirage mauling

de_mirage kicked off with TSM winning a perfect pistol round on their CT side, with Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen chiming in eagerly. Cloud9 made TSM sweat on their ecos, and achieved bomb plants to earn some early game money for the team.

Something fairly depressing then transpired for fans of North American Counter-Strike (and impressive for fans of competitive defensive play), with TSM suddenly going off on a rampage on their CT-side. In-game leader Finn "karrigan" Andersen in particular made important plays for TSM.

In the end, TSM finished the half up at 13-2, with Cloud9 picking up the final two rounds of the half. The second pistol-round of the game came down to the wire on the B-site of mirage, however TSM clinched the win and went up 14-2.

Any attempts at winning the game came too little too late however, and TSM finished the game with a triumphant 16-2 win on de_mirage, taking home $40,000 and humbling Cloud9 on European shores.

They placed second 13 times in 2014, while failing to place first even once, theres a joke going around saying they can't not make a finals but they never win them

16-2 And to be honest I were never worried on cache. Shroud and Skadoodle made some incredible frags to keep Cloud9 in the game, but TSM were simply the better team. Considering de_cache is Cloud9's best map and one of TSM's weakest, it was a one-sided final, in my opinion.

you need to win a pistol, it's mostly as easy as that. c9 didn't, the double awp came into effect in the 4th round and c9 had no answer to that. if they won one of the first 3 rounds, tsms money would be tighter and c9 may have had a chance. also on cache - c9 did not win a pistol. c9 were unlucky at times, e.g. skadoodle's failed clutch at a in their first buy round as ct, freaks bad spray against xyp9x i believe. mirage is still c9's worst map, they were able to anti-strat fnatic perfectly while benefetting from some questionable buys, but they were simply outplayed on every level once the dual awps set in.

but why veto inferno and overpass if mirage is their worst map? it doesnt make sense. C9 basicly gave them the win. so i think you are wrong about that one.

well their inferno is pretty bad too. maybe they pracced some mirage (obv for fnatic) and wanted to test their luck against tsm? it might be their 2nd worst, but it's still pretty bad.

because: 1. Cloud9 removed Inferno 2. TSM removed Cobblestone 3. Cloud9 picked Cache 4. TSM picked Mirage 5. Cloud9 removed Overpass 6. TSM removed Train how should they ban inf and mirage if eu teams just pick it before?

NA v EU, right........... You definitely are stupid. WW 1 was fought between GB, Germany, France, Serbia and Austria-Hungary (mainly). The US came late. Same in WW 2, with the problem starting between GB, France, Italy and Germany. And let's remember US mainly fought Japan, sure they helped their allies in Europe.

They can't handle the pressure at finals. Its the 3rd final they are failing. Tier 1 for sure tho, but hardly top5. Winning versus envyus, who are having tons of problems, versus fnatic who were performing awful this tournament and winning by a round or two versus one of navi's worst maps is not that big of an accomplishment.

Oh I've never said they weren't. They are doing extraordinary well for their standards and they have improved. They have a great read on the game atm. They are a bit overhyped, that was my point. They need to improve more to beat TSM, fnatic and possible navi again.

TSM finally won something again good for them, played a strong event they deserve the title. TSM can become #1 if they would attend more events right now winning something here and there doesn't compare to the amount of shit fnatic won in 2015 but its still nice that they can bounce back from being eliminated in groups to winning an event. Pretty strong comeback nice to see something that fnatic doesn't win, as much as I love them it gets boring seeing them win everything, well played for TSM.

More than expected, it was inevitable, too soon for C9 to beat them. They are #1 and all they gotta do is win Cologne to shut anyone up who keeps denying it.. fnatic have the potential but how consistently brilliant are TSM.. #1 clearly for me, fnatic could come back.. So kind to go triple awp yolo at 13-0, that was 16-0 just not on the scoreboard.. nice game on Cache though C9, and just have to keep improving.. just like TSM did.. that first tournament win they need will be the key just like TSM needed it, now lok at em.. even when C9 got that 4v2 and looked set for first round still denied by perfect play.. so much perfect play in first 13 rounds its mindblowing ? TSM so OP atm, good for em they worked so hard to get here and suffered so much back in the day, so close..choke.. now they choke the opponent! beautiful display of skill, will definitely rewatch that Mirage game soon as the VOD is up. The discipline that every other team lack, smart upon smart.. so good to see

Very impressive performance from TSM, especially on mirage, I think I've never seen a so perfectly played mirage CT side, they only slipped up on the last 2 rounds, they could have gone 15-0 at this point, a true lesson of CS. A shame for C9 that they couldn't bring their A-game, but I was kind of fearing that result from them after defeating fnatic. It's the problem with taking down the big fish before the final.

Well deserved victory for TSM, but when it comes to cloud9 , I felt like they were tired on Mirage , it looked like they were not full of energy and its a shame because they looked solid through out the tournament until the final against TSM.

In my opinion it's linked to what I've said above: they took down fnatic before the final, which released a huge amount of pressure that built up, because fnatic are still considered the number 1 team to beat (well, at least they were). After they took them down, it's very hard to refocus on TSM, especially if you've beaten fnatic, because you kind of feel like the worst is behind you. Many people can fall into this kind of trap: beating the main favorite and losing energy and spirit against other players. NiP at DHW 2013 after beating VG is a perfect example.

I agree with you , but for now on , i have to say that TSM looks like one of the favorites to win ESL Cologne 2015 because they are looking extremely solid right now..... i would say that Fnatic and TSM are the favorites right now BTW. However do not underestimate Cloud9...because they have already showed us that they could beat Envy, Fnatic etc and i would say that cloud9 have the potential to be one of the best....... Sry if my english is bad)

Yes, in my opinion the real favorites for Cologne are TSM, even though they have less results to back that up, their main strength is that they don't have much to fear from most teams at the moment. Then fnatic are the second favorites of course, and then it's up to anyone from the top10 (including C9).

Not true. Out of last 9 matches, TSM is the one who won 5, not fnatic. Your list is good, but there is one mistake. Between 0-1 TSM win and 1-3 TSM win, you listed three 1-0's for fnatic, while there are only two 1-0's in a row since that 1-3 TSM win. That basically means you made one result up, which means that there are 8 matches in your list. And the match that comes after those you listed is the match where TSM won in a bo1. This is how a correct list looks like: Fnatic - TSM 0 - 1 1 - 0 1 - 0 1 - 3 2 - 1 1 - 2 0 - 1 1 - 0 0 - 1 And if we are going to compare fnatic with TSM in matches they played against each other, the result is actually pretty embarrassing for fnatic.

fnatic lost to clg, tsm lost to keyd. fnatic won 16-14 against tsm. all b01's. if u take a look at the bigger picture tsm still have the upper hand against every other team right now. nothing is set in stone so fnatic or maybe even navi might win the next tournaments.
