IEM Gamescom day two recap

Day two of IEM Gamescom has come to an end, with EnVyUs continuing their perfect start to the tournament.

After an exciting opening day that saw EnVyUs and SK Gaming hold on to their lives, day two kicked off with a mouth-watering clash between Team SoloMid and CLG on de_train.

The North American team came into the match determined to bounce back from their defeat in the opening match and secured a 10-5 lead after playing on the CT side. However, Finn "karrigan" Andersen's men picked themselves up and overcame the deficit to secure their second win in Cologne.

The following match also featured a Danish team, this time SK, who fell short against Renegades on de_cache, this way giving the former Vox Eminor side their first win at the event.

SK and Renegades would face each other two times again before the end of the day, with one victory going each side. The Danes' 19-16 triumph came as a blow to the Australian side, who have no margin for error left.

EnVyUs entered their match against CLG looking to extend their winning run in the tournament after picking up two wins during the first day. The North American team gave Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer's a run for their money, but in the end the Frenchmen ran out 16-13 victors to leave CLG on the brink of elimination.

mousesports had given strong showings against Renegades and EnVyUs, but they were simply outplayed by TSM on de_dust2, which shows that Fatih "gob b" Dayik's side still have some work to do to become more consistent.

I like these articles much more than the "envyus beat titan" "fnatic to overcome vp" 10 article spam every day of a big tournament. Better have one news article in the end of each day about the results of all games.

Hltv is a cs esport site, not a site about skins. Why would they have news articles about stickers?

They got good rounds against all the teams and made their matches at least competitive, a few less mistakes and they could of won, I don't know why CLG gets this much hate, is it just because their from NA? I bet SK would do worse than clg without niko...

You don't really now that. Besides, SK is very bad, not even top 20 in Europe. CLG also started CT side on train and inferno against TSM and NV. Had they started T, the score would probably have looked much less impressive.

SK is probably in the low end of top 20 EU (not so sure now without tenzki) they made it into esl esea pro league, and that only has 12 teams I believe. and sure yeah probably, they would of got maybe a few less rounds, but that's because it's a CT sided game and NA teams are usually worse on T side because of weak IGLs. and I'm mostly talking about the envy game and specifically that fuck up round after the t side pistol win and jdms CT fuck ups.

How are they playing better than clg? they have the same amount of lives left. renegades won twice vs SK, and vs every one else they got less than 10 rounds, while true clg have not won once, but every game they played was over 10 rounds, and they played vs harder opponents today.

Sure they did, that's the special thing about the tournament. Teams can help eachother to better placements. SK and TSM aren't the only teams who helps eachother. Renegades and enVy also helps eachother.

So hold up, why has Renegades had to play 5 games and the others haven't? Surely there's a keep-even on matches you have to play...

Because they were chosen to play. If I'm not mistaken, whoever wins a match picks up two teams to face eachother in the next match.

Why are people bitching at the format? Its fairly obvious this was not meant to be a serious tournament. Its more like a fun teaser before major. People here are so stuck up.
