IEM Gamescom day three recap

We've put together a recap from day three at IEM Gamescom for you to see how teams fare before they head into the last day of competition.

Day three saw the competition getting fiercer, as Renegades and CLG entered with only one life left, while EnVyUs still hadn't lost a single one.

The North American side's fate was decided in match one of the day, as they were pitted up against TSM, who had only lost one life up until that point to the Frenchmen. de_inferno was no big challenge for the Danes, as they sent CLG packing with zero wins over the prolonged weekend.

Understandably, TSM and EnVyUs wanted to throw each other under the bus over and over, as the latter was chosen to play mousesports three times with one-map pauses in between them.

EnVyUs came on top of de_dust2 quite convincingly, but mousesports fought back in their third encounter overall, this time on de_train. The last match of the day meant the end of the competition for mousesports, even though they held onto the match up to the overtime.

On the other side were the other favourites, TSM, whom EnVyUs pitted against their comrades from SK, the only side surviving besides the Australian side, who haven't been chosen to play a single match today.

After initial struggles on de_cbble, which TSM rarely play, Finn "karrigan" Andersen's squad stormed through de_overpass to make the Danish-Bosnian mixture finish at 5th place overall.

With the results mentioned above, only three teams are left in the competition, with the two favourites even at three lives and Renegades still on one life.

Tgwri1s is the only person who does stats and he is taking a well earned holiday right now. We do have the logs available to us though so stats will be up as soon as he returns.

Thanks for your reply. That's just what I wanted to know... I've asked it since HLTV started putting stats in the match pages. Which I found amazing. I've asked since the beginning if it was a manual task, or automatic... Now I know it's manual, but since you have logs from the scorebot or idk what, there is always a way of automatizing it... I mean, it's just text. You should extract all the useful infos with a few lines of RegEx.

Even a first year CS major could easily automate that.

Nah clg just got fucked over cause they didnt form an alliance with anyone, thats how renegades are 3rd. If RNG had to play nV and TSM rather than SK three times they would be out already

this alliances ruined this tournament a bit, it could've been much better than having repetitive matchups over and over again and teams not playing for the whole day :\

I was skeptical at the beginning, but I've actually enjoyed the added drama. Regardless of the match-ups, the games themselves have pretty much all been entertaining too.

The matches were really good to be honest. The true potential of the format would be seen only if all the teams participating would be top tier teams. This is Bo1 format at its best as teams actually have a very good chance at redeeming themselves. Personally I love this format
