ptr exits Mythic

Peter "ptr" Gurney has revealed via Twitter that he has parted ways with Mythic.

The future of the North American team has been thrown into doubt since Luminosity Gaming released the players to make way for the signing of the former Keyd Stars roster, led by Brazilian veteran Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo.

Luminosity owner Steve "Buyaka" Maida stated at the time that the team - who went back to their previous name, Mythic - would soon find a new home, but the group stage exit at the ESL One Cologne qualifier certainly came as a huge blow to Jonatan "⁠Devilwalk⁠" Lundberg's men.

Peter "⁠ptr⁠" Gurney has now taken to Twitter to reveal that he is free to discuss his future with any team after stepping down from Mythic, who are now depleted to just four players.

I am officially a free agent. Thanks to everyone on mythic for the great times we had. Now I have to look towards the future.

I don't understand why you linked me his stats page. His stats on the past 2 lans are pretty good. The only one being eswc not as good. And stats don't mean much, because they only account for kills, deaths, headshit, etc. They don't account 1vX situations they may have won. They don't account for the accuracy of the shots fired. They don't account for entry frags and etc. Ptr is not awful and is definitely the second awp na.

Well he's achieved a hell of a lot more than koosta. ptr has proven he can play well on lan at international events multiple times. As well as being on high level teams for a good amount of time now. Koosta is a completely unproven player who hasn't even played a season of invite yet. You seem hyped over a single online match against ex LG lol. Let him grind his way like everyone else and actually prove something first.

I have to disagree. Skadoodle is a player that make big plays for c9 and has a huge impact. If you replaced skadoodle with ptr then c9 prob wouldn't even make it past group stages in there last event. There's a reason ptr is getting dropped by every team he plays in. So no his skill level is not even close.

Ptr is not being dropped. He wasn't dropped from mythic or clg. He left both of them for a better opportunity. If talking about rifle skill, ptr and skadoodle are very close. If you are talking about awp skill, skadoodle is better in that department, but not by much. On a bad day for skadoodle, or a good day for ptr, ptr would be better, vice versa for skadoodle. If talking about game sense, skadoodle probably knows more about the game than ptr due to his team background and his extensive international tournaments. But, ptr team comms and play are unrivaled by anyone. Either one could do the same thing on cloud9, or any other team that uses them in a way sgares uses skadoodle. Their skill level is very close, but skadoodle edges ptr out in the awp skill department, although either are/were a huge impact player for their team, and will be for any future teams. #1 and #2 awps in NA.

He was dropped from Mythic, and he left CLG because his teammates wanted to pick up Skadoodle. If he was truly as talented as Skadoodle, in other words irreplaceable, there's no way he'd be dropped from so many teams. There's nothing ptr does that is remotely close to as good as what Skadoodle does. Worse rifling. Worse awping. Worse positioning. Worse timing. Worse reactions. Worse aim. Worse pistoling. Worse clutching ability. Worse movement. Worse gamesense. You could make a case for ptr being the second best awper in NA but Skadoodle is so far ahead of him, it's a joke to compare the two. And by the way, Skadoodle has been an absolute monster on all three of his CSGO teams thus far. A great awper will shine regardless of how he's being used.

He was not dropped from mythic, he left. And saying his aim, gamesense, positioning, movement, clutching ability, awping, rifling, etc. Is worse than skadoodles is opinion. Because there are no stats or something of that sort to show this. And ptr has shown as much skill on his past 2/3 teams as well. In clg he had many amazing games where people talked of him being the number 1 awp in NA. When he was in luminosity and mythic he made huge clutch plays on lan and online, he also had huge 30+ frag games etc. And no, it's not a joke to compare the 2, because there are close in skill, in everythema of the game.

It's an opinion that is held by the majority of top players. All you have to do is watch them play and it's obvious. There's a reason Skadoodle is widely considered as the #2 awper in the world, whereas ptr is not even mentioned in the conversation. But I guess you see something in ptr that the rest of the world doesn't. I guess I can just say Lex is pretty close in skill with olofmeister and I wouldn't be wrong because it's all an opinion. By the way, even his teammates from Mythic are saying ptr was cut because they weren't meshing.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I agree with that. So if you believe that lex is on olof level then you can think that. But, the reason I have come up with the thinking of ptr being close to skadoodles level is not just by opinion. The statistics from his past online events, and 2 lans are on part - mostly - with skadoodles. I get that you aren't going to accept my thinking of ptr is close to skadoodle, nor will I accept your thinking of skadoodle us miles past ptr. But you can't say many people believe ska doodle is way better just to strengthen your argument, because many people have both of our opinions. I've seen many people say ska is way bettrr, and many people say ptr is close or better than ska. It goes both ways. But, please link me to anywhere that official mythic players (not fakes) said ptr was kicked because they weren't meshing.

The invite teams in NA who could possibly use Ptr: (1) Liquid: since the Hiko thing isn't official. (2) Elevate: Ptr is an upgrade over Slemmy and P.C. imo. (3) Method: Ptr is an upgrade over Eley/Mainline. Move Silent3m to support and let Ptr awp. (4) 3sUP: Arya is a dedicated awper, so probably not. That team looked like real shit last night though. I think most other rosters are set. Edit: You'll maybe see Xp3 on Mythic. Although, if Xp3 signs with Mythic right now ex-Elevate may lose their ESEA invite spot. So unless they bring in Schneider, I have no idea who they'd bring in.
