NiP to quarter-finals over Renegades

Ninjas in Pyjamas are through to the quarter-finals at ESL One Cologne following a comfortable 16-5 victory against Renegades on de_inferno.

Renegades got off to a blazing fast start, picking up the pistol round in convincing fashion on the back of a quad kill from Justin "⁠jks⁠" Savage, the team's brightest star. But a blunder from the Australians in the following round saw them give away an AK, which Aleksi "⁠allu⁠" Jalli put to great use in the third round as NiP reduced the deficit to 1-2.

The Swedish giants took the reins of the match, with the scoreline blooming to 5-2, when a triple kill from jks - who else? - kept Renegades in the race. But they were unable to build on that win as NiP remained in the driving seat and extended their lead to 12-3.

NiP carried this momentum into the second half and won the pistol round following a B push, with allu getting three kills to his name. The former Vox Eminor team still tried to fight back, but the gap was just too big to bridge, and NiP quickly sealed victory.

Beating Titan and making TSM sweat for the win on Train is a pretty good showing from a team like RNG, don't u think? I mean, with the group draws they've got, you can't really see them getting to the top8 anyways.

Allu and f0rest got some ecos, but still they did play so freaking good specially allu with the 3k third round when NiP was on a eco that changed it all. f0rest saved them with a 4k in pit against a tec9-train when allu and xizt went down pretty early. GT played good through it all as well, friberg and xizt played good even if the stats does not really show it. GGWP, lets hope this is going to hold for NiP.

Would someone mind clarifying the 2nd group format for me (I'm sure this has been asked endless times so apologies)? If Titan theoretically beat NiP 16-0 they'd all be on 3 points with their round difference making them top? Is it due to 2nd/3rd placing from the first group stage having a weighting? (Not looked at the first group before typing this so don't know if their placing actually support that theory)

I can understand that people is whining on friberg because of lately. But in this game he did his thing, but the thing is that RNG kinda never went B except for some weapon rounds, but never on a eco. They was feeding the A-players kills. And when RNG was attacking B on weapon round, GT got like 2-3k etc so it didn't leave friberg to do much. And that's why you cant always look at scoreboard.

"because of lately" who is it lately? friberg plays shit for nip for almost 1 year now. when did they win a tournament the last time? not counting the finish gamers assembly lan without any other serious teams, lol. he is done, he cant compete on this "new" level where there are 10-12 teams who can beat anyone on a given day. his prime was when the top was way weaker than today.

I agree that it is more than "lately", not a year but whole 2015 at least. But in this match he actually did ok and that's why I wrote like I did, people was just looking at stats =D but I agree with you pretty much.
