compLexity unveil new team

compLexity have announced that they have ventured into Counter-Strike again with the signing of the team known as Maximum Effort.

Once a household name in the Counter-Strike scene, compLexity had been without a team to support since July 2014, when their roster was acquired by Cloud9.

After looking at opportunities to return to the game for the last 12 months, the North American organisation finally made a move when they learned about the availability of the ex-Nihilum roster, which had been playing under the name Maximum Effort.

SEMPHIS to wear coL's shirt once again

Spencer "⁠Hiko⁠" Martin, who has been trying out for Team Liquid, and Derek "⁠desi⁠" Branchen will not be making the move to compLexity, with ex-Tempo Storm duo Daniel "⁠roca⁠" Gustaferri and Timothy "⁠autimatic⁠" Ta stepping into their shoes.

"We couldn’t be happier to be back in CS:GO," compLexity founder and CEO, Jason Lake, said in a statement. "Our love for the franchise is what lead to compLexity’s formation and we’re humbled and honored to be a part of the game once again.

"We’re also very excited to announce our new roster and eager to tackle the challenges ahead.

"Everyone involved understands that the division will be a work in progress, but developing talent and building champions are areas in which we excel.

"With the return of Matt “Warden” Dickens to the compLexity family, expectations are high. Dedication, passion, time and patience will lead to big trophies. Bank on it."

compLexity's new team will make their first official appearance for the organisation in just a few hours' time as they will take on Team Liquid in CEVO Professional. The team's lineup consists of:

kinda funny of you replying to my opinions then. first i never said i was backed with FACTS or EVIDENCE but only my own judgement and analysis combined with what many other people say about him. I do think he is a money whore and I do believe he is serving his time out of the competitive scene due to the poor choices he made in order to be part of the money club. It's not wrong to earn some money doing what you like to do but if you're too greedy without showing results or waiting the perfect thing to happen then this is what happens when you realize you're not in control.

If the players ever form a union and need a union rep, Hiko would be the perfect guy for the job. Why? Because even his self-promotions are geared towards helping all the players. That's what's at the root of his decisions. That, and wanting to be competitive. Even he's said that personality conflicts can always get worked out. That wasn't why he left C9. Why he did is why he wanted to get a super team together with Skadoodle, and why he wanted to join Nihilum: be surrounded by players hungry to win, and to promote players rights (incl. salaries), within the scene.

well, i am finance manager for a big, leading, US IT company based in Kansas City so yeah I know a thing or two about what i am talking about. i am sorry if my point wasn't entirely clear but judging Hiko's past choices he preferred financial stability over the chance of winning championships and be meaningful again. If I were as talented as Hiko I'd rather join/form a team who could win and then look for support/compensation after results. thing is that many companies are investing heavily in CSGO so many bad teams (ie Liquid) are getting paid to get thrashed.

Would you say you work in a competitive field? Why wouldn't you negotiate your salary to a potential employer if you knew you could get payed more, especially if you consider yourself to be better than your competition. Unless esports is communist I cant see why it would be so unreasonable, since in real sports player salaries vary greatly based on worth.

And? He chews. No team he's been at the front of has played to the standard that its talent and experience would lead most to believe it was capable of. Can't stop force buying. Can't stop peeking. Can't stop pushing. Can't stop baiting on retakes. Can't stop losing. All of the above have come to define what Semphis is and what becomes of teams he's been on since after Cologne 2014. Semphis is a loser. And not in the "can't get a seat at the cool kid's table" way. But in the "unable to identify mistakes and address them in a productive manner for the betterment of he and his team" way. The first one is a wash. There are lots of cliques and groups and crews in NA CS and most of them don't want anything to do with each other. The latter is death. It kills good teams. It's what happened to NLM after Semphis and Hiko joined. Taking a good roster of solid players with great comms and fantastic ideas of how to implement new meta and turning it into exactly what C9 was at the end: A waste of time and talent through those involved being told it was okay to make a part time effort when they were getting full time pay and access to resources. Why even bother when better could have been done. Not just for value for money, but for ability to net results in the short term and potential to improve and climb the ladder in the long term.

Hell no. I was a MAJOR fan. I donated quite a bit to all of the players (semphis included). I would wake up to cheer them on at the euro tourneys. This was all before the light was shed on how much of a negative impact semphis was having on the squad.. in and out of game. Any logical person that analyzed the bootcamp streams, the voicecoms, the players own words would arrive at that conclusion. Dazed couldn't play with him, swag couldn't play with him.. now he's going to bring that culture to one of the most prestigious names in counter-strike. I see he's one of your favorite players. I used to think it was sick when he would repeak awpers and headshot them too but now everybody knows to watch for that when they are up against his teams. tl;dr: im the biggest 1.6 / csgo coL fan but semphis brings a losing culture and 2 of NA BEST players chose not to play with him.

No Semphis joined didn't really fuck with the chemisty or roles. They dropped flowsick, the entry, and added Semphis as an entry. Then when Hiko joined and they dropped P_C the roles got completely fucked. You can see they like Semphis and he likes them because they're still on a team, whereas Hiko is not.

I'm just going off of what Hiko said in the Half Time show with Steel, since that is the only real proof we have. He said that he was happy getting a bitch role but that valens insisted him and semphis get the roles they want and as a result the remaining Nihilum members including automatic felt spiteful and bitter, which ultimately led to him leaving. Again I'm only going off what hiko said, I don't know if there is anyone elses testimony that says differently.

Its not testimony, its taking what people say with a grain of salt. Hiko, who now has changed teams like what 4 times in the past 12 months, says that its not his fault he got the roles that he wanted and that other players resented him for it. Like, what? Not denying hes a good player, but he destroyed Nihilum by making them drop their AWPer for him and then creating tension in the team - although its never poor Hiko's fault.

It seems like they wont really make much of an impact with that roster. I expect it would be reasonable to sustain any costs if they're only attending domestic tournaments but if they start to qualify for international events things will start getting expensive pretty quickly. So round 1 was the roster shuffles and this is round 2? the Org shuffles? This is just Nihilum -Hiko, now Complexity. Mythic took LG, LG took KeyD etc etc list goes on good luck NA this isn't the way to build a stable roster.
