LCD monitors at ESWC

The ESWC 2008 Grand Final is closing in. Today the organizing committee announced the computer specifications for the ESWC 2008 Grand Final tournaments.

Dedication to gamers must be the term to use when talking about the monitors ESWC pick for their tournaments. Any pro-gamer would prefer a CRT over a LCD/TFT any day. As most tournaments started to switch the old CRT model with the newer LCD/TFT monitors, the teams adapted to it, but were pleased whenever they got the opportunity to play on CRT monitors. ESWC have been using CRT monitors for a long time at their events in Paris, latest the ESWC Masters event.

As the Grand Final this year is moved to San Jose and United States of America, there won’t be any CRT monitors for the gamers. The organizing committee of ESWC today released the specifications for the computers and monitors to be used at the Grand Final.

Computers Specifications
GPU NVIDIA 8600GT 256MB by ASUS
Chipset NFORCE 630i by MSI on P6NGM-FD
INTEL Pentium Dual Core E2180
2GB DDR2-800MHz RAM
Windows XP PRO
LCD 24'' 6ms by DELL in the tournaments areas
LCD 22'' 2ms by SAMSUNG on stage
More and more tournaments use the 22” 2ms model at their tournaments, ESWC will however have a 24” 6ms for the tournaments areas, while stage matches will be played on the 22” 2ms. With the calendar reading 2008, ESWC really should be able to find better monitors than a 6ms LCD. The 360 computers will be provided by ESWC Main and Worldwide partner NVIDIA, where Packard Bell has been supplying the latest event with their ixtreme series.

Billedet “images/galleries/312-medium/1183586725.07.jpeg” kan ikke vises, da det indeholder fejl.

Did ESWC not think it was worth the effort shipping those mixed pallets of CRT monitors to San Jose or is it out of their hands?

HLTV.org will be at the ESWC 2008 Grand Finals taking place 25-27 in San Jose, USA.

Your eye has bigger time of reaction, believe me. But indeed, the fact is its worth to have faster lcd, because its the time between switching from black-to-black what is given in specification. Between other colours it just can be bigger. Ive been playing with samsung crt (some basic flat model) and recently changed it for samsung 22" t220 model. Referring to the time of response, i didnt notice any change, it wasnt issue i was complaining about with my crt, but if we talk about contrast, lcd is much better and i do not need gamma adjuster any more (1:10000). The bad thing is they will have to play with panoramic monitors, what just sucks.

For 1.6 that setup is more than enough but the monitors... only in America - the bigger the better.

Agree, there have been better computers.. I wonder why they've put up such set-up, I know for sure they can provide them with better equipment.. Overall good enough for CS though. :)

Why spend more money on the computers? Have you seen CS 1.6 requirements? It's more than enough

22" is already very big, but it's a big advantage for spotting enemies in the dark and distance ;)
