NiP, fnatic finalize Dubai bracket

NiP have defeated EnVyUs 2-0 (de_dust2 16-13, de_inferno 16-7), while fnatic overpowered Titan 2-0 (de_train 16-5, de_inferno 16-13) to finalize the ESL ESEA Dubai Invitational bracket.

The group A decider was to be played betwen EnVyUs and NiP, the latter of which got there through Cloud9 after an overtime battle on de_dust2 taking place yesterday.

They two kicked it off on de_dust2, and with a Adam "friberg" Friberg-powered pistol round, NiP stormed into a 3-0 lead as CT before EnVyUs replied with three to tie it despite Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg's heroics in a 1-on-5, which he lost in a 1-on-2 in the end.

Only one more round throughout the entirety of the half went EnVyUs' way, and when friberg and Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund combined to win the second pistol as well, things looked sour for the Frenchmen.

After a bad start to the tournament, f0rest stepped up

At 13-4, EnVyUs started mounting a comeback though, and took four, two and three rounds, each for one of NiP's, which wasn't enough in the end, and NiP took the map lead 1-0 at 16-13.

de_inferno was much more straightforward, as after an initial back-and-forth game, NiP took over and surprisingly took as many as 10 rounds as Terrorists, and topped it off with a fourth pistol round win in the series.

At that point it was nearly over for the French squad, and this time they couldn't come back to have a shot at a semi-final, while NiP could celebrate with what was an upset win at 16-7.

In group B, Titan and fnatic fought for the last spot in the semi-finals to match up against Virtus.pro in the last best-of-three of day two in Dubai.

de_train was chosen by Titan to be the first map, but despite a pistol round going in their hands, fnatic took clear control of the half with a second-round reply and four more rounds on top.

While Titan tried to get back into it, their economy was clearly against them, as whenever the five won a round, fnatic took the game back into their hands right after, breaking Titan's money over and over.

With 10 rounds as Terrorists, fnatic were happy to win the second pistol round, as well as both following anti-ecos, the first gunround, as well as the second, to make the half 6-0 and map one scoreline 16-5.

flusha's fnatic advance from the "group of death"

de_inferno was much closer than that, despite a bad start on Titan's side for 1-5, and a less-than ideal 5-10 halftime score, which fnatic got to very much thanks to Robin "flusha" Rönnquist playing lights out.

Titan took the first four in a row to make it 9-10 on the back of Mathieu "Maniac" Quiquerez, but fnatic repeated a similar feat to take control again for 13-9, at which point many could think Titan are done for despite being on the favoured side.

Another four-round streak from Richard "shox" Papillon's team equalized the series though, but in the end individual heroics from Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson and flusha in 1-on-2's, where both ended up below five health-points, were the game-deciding factor.

NiP only won because f0rest actually played well. NiP have needed 3 carries to become a top 5 team again... GTR and Allu were the only performers for so long.

n1! But the question is why EnvyUs only did do A-rounds on inferno as t except the pistolround? =D Maybe they feel its easier on that site, but like you should at least try B some =D

Since they feel like, and probably are, the more indivdually skilled team the A site lends itself more to 1v1 aim duels, it's like that on most maps for Envy and when it works out they reeeekkkk teams but when it doesn't they can look really weak.

I think Titan proved they deserved to be there. And everyone said that kinguin or Lumionisty would have been better. The two teams people said didn't deserve to go to that tournament (NIP and Titan) both did great.

I know but what you said is something that is nearly the same. They failed the last few tournaments but we have no idea when the next tournament will be. If Cloud9 fail 3 tournament before for example another dubai like tournament than they shouldn't get an invite. But if they start doing great again than they will deserve the spot. At the time the invites were given out cloud9 was 100 percent in the top 6.
