dignitas, F3 through to Cluj major

Day five of DreamHack Open Stockholm, taking place inside the Annexet Globe Arena, instead of the Monster Energy DreamHack Studios, stages the Consolidation Final of each of the four groups to determine who will fill the very last spots at the major.

The day's action kicked off with a mouth-watering clash between dignitas and Immunity. The two teams had faced each other on Tuesday, during the opening round of matches, with dignitas running out 2-0 victors at the time. History would repeat itself on Saturday, but this time around Immunity would be able to take the game to a third map.

However, it was dignitas who came out the brighter in the series. The Danish team ended the first half on de_train up 8-7 and they carried that momentum into the second half, sealing a 16-12 victory that put them one step away from the major.

But Immunity refused to throw in the towel and, powered by James "⁠James⁠" Quinn and Ricardo "⁠Rickeh⁠" Mulholland, levelled up the series thanks to a 16-11 win on de_mirage. The teams then moved on to de_inferno, where Philip "⁠aizy⁠" Aistrup and Andreas "⁠znajder⁠" Lindberg proved far too hot to handle as they inspired dignitas to a 16-12 success.

Group D's Consolidation Final, between FlipSid3 Tactics and Copenhagen Wolves, came up next. It was a rematch of Wednesday's opening clash, which the Ukrainian team had won by a 2-0 scoreline, and the outcome remained the same, though today's match was much closer.

FlipSid3 came into the match firing on all cylinders and took a commanding 11-4 lead at the break. CPH Wolves still produced a reaction, but six rounds was all they could accomplish as the Ukrainians sealed a 16-10 victory. The following map was de_overpass, where CPH Wolves looked capable of overturning a 5-10 halftime deficit, only to fall at the final hurdle as FlipSid3 Tactics secured a 16-13 victory that puts them through to yet another major.
