Denmark pull out of TWC EU qualifier

The Denmark national team have withdrawn from the European qualifier for The World Championships, captain Jacob "Pimp" Winneche has revealed.

Denmark were due to face the Netherlands later on Wednesday in the Round of 16 after finishing at the top of Group A, with four victories from five matches.

However, team captain Jacob "Pimp" Winneche has revealed that he is unable to put together a lineup to attend the offline finals, in Belgrade, next week, in case of qualification for the event. As a result, the dignitas player has withdrawn the team from the tournament.

Last year, Denmark missed the ESEC Finals due to similar issues, being replaced by Poland, who would finish runners-up to France.

TWC organisers E-frag.net have not yet stated whether the Netherlands will get a free pass to the season finals or will have to face a different opponent coming from the group stage.

nothing to do with payment, but "honor" and "pride" to represent your country. Same with footballers and other sports, if that was me I'd be much more proud to play for Slovenia than to get 2423523523532525235m a year. there's things money can't be there for.

ofc ofc, I'm just saying, representing your country should fill you with so much pride you shouldn't care if you only get paid 1% that you get for your club/team. In terms of football international games can often be the best way to showcase your talent too; look at all the south american players from WC now in european clubs!

if you think footballers aren't (very well) payed to play on their national squads. kek... of course there is pride involved, but when you reach a stable career, $$$ > pride.

and that's what's wrong ^^ they already get enough money from clubs, no need to whore for national money too when they get a little bit and can feel proud (in Slovenia footballers get payed SHIT for playing for our country).

I have been following the national team since early clanbase days and basically all matches up until today. I know what i see. We have a management problem, when we fail this not once, but twice. Frankly i don't care about what internal factors caused this. That's not really relevant. As much as i like you, i'm sorry to say. You failed your assignment as team manager.

Haha exactly. I was about to write a big elaboration, but HLTV refreshed it self, and it got lost. Nevertheless some keywords; 15 spots (NO MORE, all 15 already filled up, so not any room to work with there) TSM : Sponser deals, agreements made they can't break, understandable yet frustrating. SK: would not let two of their players play the tournament, while the rest of them had to skip an event: NPF (Denmarks biggest LAN event ever), understandable, yet frustrating. Same logic applies to Reason and us. Simply math: No one, yet everyone is indirectly responsible for this. I as a manager of the team could take full responsibility for it, but I won't, as I couldn't have done anything diffrently in my position. Had I felt I could've done more, I would be ashamed, yet the feeling i'm sitting back with is pure frustration over the fact that in the end we couldn't make a team for the finals. This is far from as detailed as I wished it to be, but still sums up my intial points. Blaming me, the players, anyone is useless. WE have to face that the timing in Denmarks biggest event, as well as the lan finals for this event, was just plain out horrible. I feel sad for the guys hosting this tournament, and for the true real fans out there. The rest of you, the idiots, the guys feeling the need to comment and make conclusions on things they don't even set them self into, to bad, could not care less. The fans, the hosts behind the tournament deserve an explanation, and they've got it, the rest..~~~

How can you NOT find some players for the team? It doesn't really matter what caused the problems, you WOULD be able to compete with a lineup, no matter what it is. If some of the best players were not able to compete or didn't want to, why not give the chance to some of the players playing in the lower teams then? Then they could actually prove themselves. I guess your selfish ego is too high for that. Unexpected decision from a insecure little kid. Sorry for the bad words, but the truth has been spoken. You failed your assignment as team manager :-)

Could be that we should have Added a bit less top players for the team, i mean not to be biased. but the guys who played for MTW/noproblem? probably had nothing to do, and would love to go for th experience.

thats what happens when you organize this bullshit of "World Champions", why don't you just create normal tournament with normal teams?

I think you have completely missed the point of "national teams"

i didnt, esports just aren't on that level just yet, if they wanted to go that way they should have created a WCG-like type

CS is pretty much national teams 24/7 anyways with nearly all top teams only using players from same country

And that's why WCG was a great event. Teams win their country qualifiers and go represent the country, unlike mixed teams here.

The NPF prices are low so it cant be the money they are missing out of. The price for being number one in CSGO are just over 2.000 euro's. Then it has to be about the pride in doing a good LAN. But what pride is bigger than to attend the World Championship in your field?? Its not the first time. While i have been watching eSport i think its the third og fourth time...
