ScrunK joins Team Coast as coach

North American outfit Team Coast sign German player Robin "ScrunK" Röpke as an official coach for the team during its current gambit in the various online leagues of the fall 2015 season.

Team Coast ventured into CS:GO by signing Orgless, a North American team comprising Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz and others who had formerly been playing under LunatiK, and gave the team some profile ahead of its competition in the ESL ESEA Pro League Season 2 and CEVO-P Season 8.

Coast currently hold a 3-4 record in ESL ESEA and a 2-3-4 record in CEVO, putting the team in the middle of the league's standings so far. Team Coast, an organisation known for its League of Legends team which made the LCS, has decided to take the next step and bring in a coach for the team to help it elevate its game.

Team Coast bring in ScrunK from overseas to coach the team

Coast have thus decided to bring in Robin "ScrunK" Röpke, a German and former myKPV.de player who was last seen attempting to bring together a team known as "-tba-", an experiment which quickly fell apart as its players went their separate ways.

This move is not the first time a player from overseas has been recruited to a coaching role in North America, with Gamers2's currrent coach Nikola "LEGIJA" Ninić coaching the Nihilum team earlier this year before that project went bust.

ScrunK provided a statement on the occasion, which sees the player move to a newfound coaching role:

"I would like to thank Team Coast and the players for giving me this opportunity to throw my EU knowledge and style into the NA scene. I am excited to see where this route in my career leads me and where I can help this team go," Röpke told HLTV.org.

As a result of this signing, Team Coast's roster is now:

United States Ahsan "draek" Ismailzadah
Canada Mitch "DUM0RE" Green
Canada Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz
United States Chris "draWsouL" Drossel
United States David "inVert" Monroe

Germany Robin "ScrunK" Röpke (coach)

can someone honestly tell me how do teams even get these EU random coaches? Like these guys never attended an international LAN, so obviously they don't even know the dude let a lone he played mostly in a german league... not only that he's like a no namer. I'm so confused... do they just send out random invites until someone says yes? or do these people just apply to become a coach.

what's with all the negative comments on this? Coast earned there spot in the professional division in ESEA starting from being an irreverent NA open team in only 4 seasons instead of getting a handout. That itself is an achievement 99% of you trolls asking "who" will never come close to. That aside it's a smart move on both ends. Coast will get advice and mentoring from an experienced international player to improve there already decent first season of professional together. In short term it increases team motivation and excitement but also takes tension/stress off a team having a 3rd party making the critiques and criticism creating a healthier team environment. longitudinally if it isn't clear enough players individual skill/game sense will improve making the team stronger. There's little miracles such as helping a teams rotation that have a huge impact on winning rounds. I believe Scrunk will be helping Coast during off peak gaming hours in his region. win-win situation.
