Valve release Cologne Recap video

Valve Software have released an official recap video for ESL One Cologne 2015 as well as promised upcoming player profile interviews in the coming days.

ESL One Cologne was a milestone in CS:GO history, breaking viewer numbers and setting numerous other records. The major also saw many tense matches go down that have already made it into the lore of the game, thus building even more excitement for DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca, which kicks off in under two days.

To that end, Valve have collaborated with well-known CS:GO moviemaker Kevin "⁠tweeday⁠" Tweedale (tweeday explains the extent of his involvement here) in order to create an official Recap video for ESL One Cologne.

The Cologne Recap video is meant to build anticipation ahead of Cluj

In addition, Valve have confirmed that the long awaited series of interviews it has been conducting with various CS:GO players who will attend the upcoming major in Cluj will be releasing both live at the event and on Youtube, saying so in the Recap video description:

"This continuing collection of interviews takes you around the world and inside the lives of the CS:GO elite, offering an in depth look at the stories behind the players that are shaping the scene today."

Apparently it has been changed to inlude "gameplay capture", yes. The wording still doesn't put Tweeday in charge of any sound design or general editing however, which I think most people isn't too pleased about. But the wording in the video has definitely been changed.

The editor didn't even crop the ingame footage, so we had different aspect ratios throughout the whole video, not to mention the utterly low ingame footage fps (never use prerendered files and rerender them afterwards in the final edit). The cinematics are obviously done by an amateur, the cc for the the frags and the cinematics is completely off and I don't even have to mention the gunsounds. I feel like the whole thing has been done by 3-4 parties actually; one for the event footage, one for the ingame footage and one for the schedule/brackets animation, and finally someone who put all this together (probably the guy who recorded the frags). It's obvious because he used prerendered ingame footage (cause raw .avi of a couple of seconds is a few gb, encoding with a lossless codec (which he didn't use) and rendering shrinks it down to a few mb), and didn't even crop everything to the same aspect ratio (like the major footage was). Still, even if the editing was flawless the whole video would be completely cheesy given the fact that they actually used a guy that sounds like Don LaFontaine to narrate everything. Come on this ain't the 80s lol.
