Virtus, Titan secure wins in Cluj

Action in Group C began with an interesting intercontinental clash between Virtus.pro and Team Liquid, on de_cobblestone. After watching Cloud9 drop to the Lower Bracket following a defeat against Luminosity, Liquid went into the game hoping to give the NA faithful something to cheer about, and they looked really solid for most of the game, setting the score at 9-6 at the break after a highly-contested initial period.

Virtus.pro survived a close game against Liquid 

A 1vs3 clutch from Jonathan "⁠EliGE⁠" Jablonowski in the pistol round allowed Liquid to further enlarge their lead, but Virtus.pro picked themselves up in gun rounds and brought the scoreline to 14-14. Liquid then won the following round but they were unable to follow it up, and so the game went to overtime, which the Polish team were simply too hot to handle.

The other group match was a mouth-watering clash between Titan and Ninjas in Pyjamas on de_cobblestone, which has been the battleground for half of the games in Cluj so far.

Titan came out of the gate looking scary, picking up the first nine rounds on the CT side as NiP struggled to find any holes in the Frenchmen's defense. NiP sought a response, but the rounds they edged out were few and far between as Titan cruised to a 13-2 lead.

NiP sent to the Lower Bracket 

Richard "⁠Xizt⁠" Landström made sure to keep NiP in the game with a triple kill in the pistol round, and the Swedish team followed that up with two anti-eco rounds. Some bad money-making decisions on Titan's part allowed NiP to take the score to 13-7, when Adil "⁠ScreaM⁠" Benrlitom put his skill on display as he picked up four kill to give his team their first round of the half.

NiP then won several rounds in a row, cutting the gap to 13-15, and win overtime looming Titan picked up their 16th round of the game to send the Swedes to the Lower Bracket.
