NiP through to Cluj playoffs

Ninjas in Pyjamas are through to the playoffs at DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca after easing past Titan 2-0 (16-14 on de_cache, 16-1 on de_dust2).

The third decider match saw Ninjas in Pyjamas desperate to avoid a surprise group exit against the very team that had sent them to the Lower Bracket, Titan. At first, it looked like the French team would get the perfect start as Cédric "⁠RpK⁠" Guipouy picked up an ace in the pistol round, but 'The Tank' was forced to abandon the site due to lacking a kit to defuse the bomb.

Titan responded in convincing fashion in the first gun round, which they won courtesy of a quad kill by Richard "⁠shox⁠" Papillon. The Frenchmen were, however, unable to build on that win, which resulted in an economic reset, but they responded on a force buy to bring the score to 2-5. Titan then embarked on a fantastic run which saw them overturn the deficit and secure a considerable 9-6 scoreline at the end of the half.

Kévin "⁠Ex6TenZ⁠" Droolans's side picked up where they had left off and locked down the B site in the pistol round. The two anti-eco rounds and the first gun round would also go Titan's way, putting NiP in a dire situation. It was only then that Richard "⁠Xizt⁠" Landström's men finally came to life and began to hold back Titan, winning ten of the next 11 rounds to complete a fantastic comeback.

NiP survive the decider match

The teams then moved on to de_dust2, Titan's map choice, where a fantastic start from NiP saw them cruise to an 8-0 lead. The French side, who had already called a tactical pause, then finally managed to pick up a round following a B push, but NiP remained in the driving seat and took 14 rounds with them into the second half following a brutal CT side.

Titan knew they had a mountain to climb to turn the game around, and to make matters worse they spurned a 4vs2 advantage in the pistol round, which gave NiP the money control and the ticket to the playoffs.

They are pretty good for sure,not taking anything away from them because they deserved the win, but Titan really played bad on CT side.

They threw it away. They just kept force-buying every single round when they have a huge lead. They did that on cobblestone already and almost lost the match, still they didn't learn from it.

28yo male inc The problem with ScreaM that he dont have the freedom under ex6's hand, and thats not ex6's fault, even if ScreaM would join NV he would pull them down. He should play for lesser known or weaker teams. Less pressure, more freedom, that style fits him the most. In G2 he played way better and usually on teams where he was just a stand-in he carried vs everyone. ScreaM is an invidual. He would be a fantastic DM player in any fps game (quake,ut,pk) whatever u throw at him) but since cs is about teamwork and not 1v1 duels, u rely on others and he is forced to adjust to different things. The match was like watching VG and NiP back in the days. Where VG usually lead on 1st map with a pretty convincing result, than they fall apart on the other side and NiP win 16-14/13/12 end score and on the 2nd map just like today they got demolished. It was kinda an expected end result. Edit : surely not 16-1, but less than 8 rounds. Thats my 2 cents.

Don't agree with Thoorin there, it's precisely cause of that mental game, that history that NiP has combined with the inexperience and choke. TSM doesn't have that choking anymore, even more they beat NiP in the last major 16-3. So yeah not even close to the same scenario, TSM will probably 2-0.

Possibly, not probably. So far tsm choked at every major. But i agree they have a good chance to take the title this time.

Ok, I was not expecting a result like this. I had Titan going through 2-0 or 2-1. I had to go back and watch the game, damn allu and forest went ham. D2 was a fucking massacre.
