Liquid take down Virtus.pro

Team Liquid have taken down Virtus.pro to become the sole North American team to advance to the IEM San Jose semifinals (16-2 on de_overpass and 16-9 on de_mirage).

The final match of the first day of IEM San Jose involved Team Liquid, who recently placed second at iBP Cup and third at the RGN Pro Series, against the Poles of Virtus.pro who were using a stand-in in the form of Michał "MICHU" Müller instead of Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski.

However, the match was not much of a competition at first as the Poles were completely wiped out on de_overpass with a 2-16 scoreline.

EliGE and nitr0 went off for Liquid

With Nick "nitr0" Cannella and Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski continuing to display high-impact fragging at another offline event, the second map once again kicked off with Liquid developing an early lead and pulling ahead before Virtus.pro began to equalise.

Ultimately, it was Liquid's map and the North American took mirage with a 16-9 score and moved ahead into the IEM San Jose semifinals to face off against Na`Vi.

nope. G2 will beat TSM, and NaVi-Liquid will end 2-0 in either favor. Then g2 will embarrass whoever meets them in the final.

Yes so every EU team that flew had jetlag probably and still won their games. Liquid deserve that win and the fact that he was making excuses that Vp were playing at 6am is not true cause in the US it was about 11-12AM. And Vp had 2days to rest sleep etc etc and they have played that late several times i dont think its an excuse to have really. Liquid deserved that win and there are no excuses for Vp's loss.

michu wasnt the problem, it was not having snax. having michu over someone like taz or pasha (which is what everyone wants) is perfectly reasonable. dont just blame the stand in, he did perfectly fine compared to the rest of VP.

which is what everyone wants rofl VP players don't want it, I don't want it and many many more also you can make milion threads with VP changes, you can make a petition but you won't change anything because VP players don't want to change their lineup. Even Neo said that they're happy with current situation and they won't change anyone in the near future. You're from USA and you know jack shit about polish scene. There has been only one polish team in CS that actually meant something - team with TaZ and Neo. WHy other teams can't even reached top10? Because as a team they're bad, they have always been bad and they won't achieve anything. The moment Neo and TaZ retire, Polish CS scene will die :)

but those talents can't even reach top15 it's sad look at kinguin - 5 left overs and they've made playoffs of their first major, won GP over Na`Vi and then almost reached final of their 2nd major this is talent those random tier3 polish teams don't have winning mentality like Neo and TaZ have. Look what they did with Snax and byali, especially with Snax.

If taz and Neo retire, snax and byali have to take responsibility along with pasha to teach this mentality. I get what youre saying, although G2 is a different scenario ( they are no leftovers, at least now they arent and their skill is Maybe Top5 of all teams) It Looks like the danish scene to me,where you have good Players but spread out. I hope they can pur a good team together, michu, rallen, hyper , peet and those People arent Bad

And LG lost to C9 as well, but C9 are shitties xDDDDDD amirite? Really though, VP lose with a standing playing a FPS with jetlag to a team Liquid that showed up to win. Not only did VP underestimate them, VP with this lineup would probably lose to Liquid 50/50. With Snax and no jetlag, I'd have liked to see this game.

Yeah hotel food sucks dick. The sausage patties are typically ok, but eating the eggs and stuff is a good way to get sick. Best food you can have at an NA hotel is sausage and cereal, the two things they literally can't fuck up.

It's not about Snax. The only player on VP you can easily repace is Byali as his role is simply shoot heads. Michu would fit that role as he's great rifler but filling Snax's shoes is not possible - not because Snax is better but because the whole team is there to support Snax's crazy style. For example, look at overpass and how Snax as CT plays connector and mid while Pasha plays extremely important role of covering his ass. Then there is train on which Byali throws him pop flash at main so that he can push with MAG7. They just have those set plays and established behaviors that they can also time perfectly most of the time and that's how they win games. You cannot learn stand in those. What makes it worse - overpass and mirage are core Snax maps, he's opening those maps with first kills for VP. They should have played cobble or cache on which Snax isn't so important - on those maps Neo (cache on B vent room, cbble alone on A long) and Pasha (on plateau on cbble as T, on chicken as CT) play more crucial roles and could have placed Michu easily as well.

Pretty good point about the maps imo. The maps played definitely didn't play to VPs strengths

Taz and Neo has to go. they had a great run, but now they're just holding this team back. Plus now's the perfect time to get GuardiaN back as he looks like he's not happy with Na'Vi anymore and maybe get S1mple once his ban is lifted.
