Luminosity to change two

Luminosity Gaming are weighing up the possibility of replacing Lucas "steel" Lopes and Ricardo "boltz" Prass, HLTV.org understands.

The Brazilian team have come under fire in recent weeks following a series of underwhelming results at offline events despite repeating their top-eight finish from ESL One Cologne at DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca.

After securing back-to-back top-four finishes at the iBUYPOWER Invitational and the RGN Pro Series, Luminosity were sent packing at IEM San Jose following a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Natus Vincere, who would go on to win the event.

Questions have been raised about the team's ability to turn things around, especially because they have struggled against other top ranked sides in best-of-three series since the start of the year.

And with Luminosity due to attend the FACEIT League Stage 3 Finals at the end of the week, the team is contemplating the possibility of undergoing a double roster change, with Lucas "⁠steel⁠" Lopes and Ricardo "⁠boltz⁠" Prass both likely to get the axe, a source close to the squad has told HLTV.org.

The main candidates to replace the duo are Epitacio "⁠TACO⁠" de Melo and Lincoln "⁠fnx⁠" Lau, both from Games Academy, a team that is currently competing in North America due to the Golden Chance gaming project led by Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo.

Luminosity have been drawn in Group B for the FACEIT League Finals, alongside EnVyUs, Ninjas in Pyjamas and fnatic. Their first match in Sweden will see them take on the ESL One Cologne champions, who recently signed Dennis "⁠dennis⁠" Edman from G2. 

The team's revamped squad will likely feature:

as much as I love NA CS, the only hope is if Valve unban IBP players they were some of the best few players or if C9 start changing their playstyle and CT Set-up, They are capable of getting many rounds T Side but it has always been the CT side that failed them.

Internationally it's unquestionable cogu>fnx. Because in the international champs cogu did the difference more times. But after some fights/discussions between them(mibr) and Fnx have been kecked. Fnx gave an interview talking "The team that I'm will be the best of Brazil". And he fulfilled, won everything here for a long time, stomped mibr in the games after this facts.. So definitely he wasn't a decoy, who really followed them knows that Fnx was pretty good as cogu in different function. Anyway we have new times, new game.. I just hope he repeat his old performance

I made sure to not use that word, my point is he wasn't insignificant in mibr, and in brazil he was/is considered pretty weel as cogu. Legends are made from a massive common point of view, and I know, as brazilian player just cogu have this status in the whole word. I just showed you why Brazilians are so fond of Fnx. No. If you really want to do this comparison, zqk was the one that was very close to steel (they played together a long time for TargetDown and were the ones brought in from that lineup to form Keyd Stars), and that didnt stop them from changing the squad before (they sure took their sweet time, so at the very least they're being consistent). Even though steel was working for Games Academy (as a coach, teaching new players) as far as 2013, so he also has some background with fallen, I think they resisted another rooster change as much as they could for obvious reasons. It wasnt because steel is closer to fallen or anything (I dont know much of fallen personally, but he's not this kind of person, thats for sure).

At least on paper yeah. Fer, fallen and cold are arguably brazil's top3 players, having both highest K/D ratio and Rating of the current luminosity line-up. On the other hand, fnx and taco are clearly Games Academy most gifted riflers. Both display an >1.0 K/D ratio, and while fnx currently boosts GA's top rating (always top fraging), TACO is more of a consistent player, and only falls behind hen1 - their awper-, in rating (think of fnatic's krimz). I would say both TACO and fnx are viable players for this roster change. fnx does display more of an aggressive style, having very similar average kills and assists per round to boltz. TACO on the other side should be a huge upgrade over steel, being imo a very consistent passive/defensive player with better clutch abilities and closing-off-rounds (backup) skills, something steel wasn't always capable of.

Who then? Everyone talks about how this team is a threat to win any tourney they enter but all they do is win bo1 then get eliminated. Even cloud 9 made it to 3 international finals over the summer and then won back to back NA lans that luminosity completely shit the bed at. People talk like this team is better than liquid or cloud 9 but what have they done? Fine, they got out of groups at 3 majors, but that is probably only because no top team takes them seriously.

I just don't think they're overrated man. A lot of brazilians come here and talk shit as if they were top1, but that happens to every fanbase. I think normal people know their ceiling and for now, its to cause group stage upsets. They have a lot of room for improvement and hopefully this will happen, but open minded fans know how good they are rn. IMO, I don't think they're better than c9 or Liquid. Its 3 inconsistent teams who have a lots of ups and downs, with the difference being that c9 peaked higher so far. I only disagree when you say top teams doesn't take them seriously. I think they take them seriously, but LG plays better on bo1s, they know how to perform as underdogs and don't feel much pressure. Cheers, mate!

I will tell maybe why boltz is being kicked. I see him as a very quiet and spoiled child, he's too immature atm, who see LG POV's knows that he dont help a lot his team with calls and informations, and probably he doesn't add something up at training and strats, he was only about his skills, which was pretty shaky lately. Taco was the IGL and probably the player who spend more time studying the game at GA and fnx is more skilled than boltz and make better in game decisions... Personally i dont like TACO too much, but fnx is way better than boltz and steel needs to be coach, he's very smart but can't handle a head-to-head situation. NAK is only the schedule guy from LG...

Boltz getting out is really unexpected, might not look like it cause of his role, but he's one of the best aimers in Brazil, if not the best. This definitely wouldnt happen if the current GA team had found an american sponsor, as originally intended. I guess their reasoning is that since they're gonna risk a rooster change, might as well go big on it. Maybe we'll see more of these shuffles between LG and GA if this lineup fails to deliver good results.

That's the problem, cogu already said that he's coming back to professional CS, but, in his last streams he just can't play like he played before on 1.6, it's already been 3 months that he said this and he just can't do anything in CS:GO, it's not that he don't want, is just that he can't, he still play CS 1.6 sometimes and he's still a legend, but when he open the CS:GO his skills just don't work

rain is SUPER SKILLED tbh But fox is aswell, not so much with the awp but overall, decent awp, good rifle, great clutches and game sense, good pistol aswell. He could be a good fit. But he is already in a good team and FOR THE FIRST TIME since mibr we do have ALL the best brazillian players in one team. Someone can argue about felps, but he is a pug player, has the skill but he is dumb ingame and always fight in the teams that he is playing with

Any problem with Fox. But Brazil have a LOT of good aim players with so much potencial.. So any change in GA and LG teams will definitly come from Br players. Teamplay are easy to take playing beside Fallen&cia, the player just need good notion and an insane aim.

We all agree that changing boltz won't help much(if anything), but changing Steel will make a huge difference, LG is surely a stronger team now in terms of skill. If they manage to make a team with these 2 new players, they surely will be bigger in the scene.

Boltz is the most solid player in bomb holds. He ALWAYS locks a bombsite. But he always lose clutches in the other hand. Fnx is ok holding sites but he always wins clutches. They are changing their style by it. And plus, fnx has the potential to be one of the best in the world as it was stated by fer and Fallen before.

Shy, doesn't speak much during the game, gets too nervous sometimes. He's very young, he can still improve and bounce back. For now, they will have the more experienced fnx to replace him. fnx himself was kicked from this team (he lacked commitment), and after he solved his issues, they are taking him back. Same thing might happen to boltz in the future.
