fnatic triumph at EEPL S2 Finals

The best-of-five grand final started off on de_inferno, the first of fnatic's picks, with the Swedes as Terrorists. The first several rounds saw the teams taking rounds back and forth, from which Na`Vi eventually came out swinging for a 4-2 scoreline. 

Individual performances from Egor "⁠flamie⁠" Vasilyev and Denis "⁠seized⁠" Kostin put their team on 7-2 before Jesper "⁠JW⁠" Wecksell's quad-kill put a stop to the six-round streak. An Ioann "⁠Edward⁠" Sukhariev-Danylo "⁠Zeus⁠" Teslenko combination from pit sent fnatic on an eco for 9-3, while flamie continued on god-like mode, which put Na`Vi on a big 12-3 lead going into the second half.

Edward's pistol triple seemed to have put one of the final nails in fnatic's coffin, althouh starting with a second-round reply, the Swedes started crawling back into the match. Na`Vi kept trying to force the issue despite having a lot of room to work with, and kept forcebuying until it was 13-9. 

Their first full buy obliterated fnatic's defense for 14-9, before fnatic replied once more, as they had more than enough money in the bank. Three rounds in total ended up with Na`Vi not having enough time to plant the bomb, and Freddy "⁠KRIMZ⁠" Johansson's triple on banana towards the end nearly completed the comeback, which came just two rounds after at 16-14.

Going over to one of Na`Vi's picks, de_dust2, fnatic picked up a 7-1 lead right from the start, with Na`Vi only getting the first gunround in the bag, after two unsuccessful B bombsite executes.

Ladislav "⁠GuardiaN⁠" Kovács's side found a way to another round with an attack from short, although fnatic replied back with two of their own for 9-2. A timeout from Na`Vi seemed to have made the difference afterwards, as they got all four remaining rounds to make it a 9-6 scoreline in favor of fnatic.

An agressive pistol strategy from Na`Vi gave them three more rounds, and two buyrounds afterwards, suddenly they looked to be the favourites in the match at 12-9. By that point seized picked up an AWP as well and got quite a few first kills with it, although once more fnatic found a way back into the match with two rounds in a row.

An attempt at a fake saw fnatic lose the round with time running out for 13-11 in their opponents' favor, but a few picks from Olof "⁠olofmeister⁠" Kajbjer down middle set fnatic up for 13-13. One round from Na`Vi was quickly negated by one from fnatic, who also got both remaining for another 16-14 victory and a 2-0 lead in the series.

Map three was set to be de_mirage, with fnatic eager to close the series with a 3-0 lead towards the beginning as Terrorists. Everything fell apart from there on for the Swedish side though, as Na`Vi picked up the first gunround, as well as the second in a retake situation at the B bombsite.

Na`Vi didn't stop there and continued to bathe in fnatic's blood, as they kept piling on with more and more rounds. Edward's triple entry in pit put his team up to 8-3, later on it was flamie with a quad-kill on the A bombsite to shut down fnatic's execute for 12 rounds in a row and a very solid side, similar to de_inferno.

To add insult to injury, GuardiaN shined in the second pistol round, where he got a quad-kill in a 2-on-4, as he pushed up to kitchen and single-handedly took out all defending Swedes there. This time around fnatic didn't bring a miracle as on de_inferno, even though Dennis "⁠dennis⁠" Edman seemed to have liked the idea, as he picked up five deagle headshots throughout the last few rounds. Na`Vi took their time to close it out and set the series score to 2-1 after a 16-6 scoreline.

Na`Vi's second pick started off similarly to the one on de_inferno, as the teams kept trading round by round due to beautiful "Juan Deags" from GuardiaN first, and then Robin "⁠flusha⁠" Rönnquist combined with dennis. In the end, fnatic came out ahead for a 6-1 as Terrorists after flusha saved his team with a 1-on-3 opposing a forcebuy.

seized stepped up his game afterwards, as he purchased the AWP to get eight kills in the next three rounds to lower the deficit to one round only. After losing bombsites early on, Na`Vi had to save a few rounds in a row, and couldn't find a way back into the game for the remainder of the half. 

A pistol round win for fnatic was luckily for Na`Vi replied to with the following narrow forcebuy victory, plus a saved 1-on-2 from Zeus, and his team had much more room to breathe as they tied the score at 11-11. fnatic did pick up three in a row afterwards, much thanks to JW's defuse in a 1-on-1, but it was Na`Vi who replied with five and tied the series at 16-14 following a tactical timeout.

Everything was to be decided on de_cbble, which once again started off with a great lead for fnatic, who despite losing the pistol went on to take seven rounds afterwards as Counter-Terrorists.

GuardiaN's double entry allowed Na`Vi to win their first gunround of the map, and four more afterwards, with flamie stepping into the spotlight again with important kills. fnatic converted a 2-on-2 afterwards for 8-6, and dennis closed the halftime with a huge 1-on-2 clutch, including a one-shot while falling down from balcony.

A chaotic pistol round ended up with fnatic on top for 12-6, which was soon turned into 14-6 after a quick B execute. Na`Vi tried to crawl back, but it wasn't enough as fnatic could celebrate their third victory in a row to close out the year with another $100,000 at 16-6.
