ESWC release 2009 game titles

The Electronic Sports World Cup committee today released the first pool of game titles for the 2009 event.

For ESWC 2009 the official games, after today's announcement, include:

• Counter-Strike 1.6 (PC) (c) Valve Software
• Counter-Strike 1.6 (PC) reserved for women (c) Valve Software
• Quake 3 Arena (PC) (c) ID Software (the game version could be subjected to modification with the release of Quake Live)
• Trackmania Nations Forever (PC) (c) Nadeo
• Warcraft III : The Frozen Throne (PC) (c) Blizzard

The ESWC released an official announcement:

All tournaments are open to male and female players except CS 1.6 Women. In the coming weeks, the ESWC Committee will announce further titles that will take part in ESWC global competitions, including most probably a football game and a RPG-like title. The 7th season of ESWC will start in October with National Preliminaries worldwide and a series of ESWC Masters tournaments to end summer 2009 with the ESWC Grand Final event.

No surprises for this year's game pool, and there may be more to come so stay tuned to HLTV.org

Events already tried to replace CS 1.6 with CS:CZ and CS:S, didn't work out. Guess why it's still 1.6 being played?

Better than CSS means , with better graphic/eastiest gameplay , etc. Like PROMODE,then ultrapromode,godpromode .. Or simply the next generation is CS:Online

maybe valve should think about making cs 1.7. Source shouldn't replace 1.6, source is for noobs :D

1.7 without big changes, maybe a little improvement in grahics etc. This game would resist competitors for longer and everyone would be happy :D

I´m sure that in 3-4 years CS:S will be dead :-) If CS:S can´t beat 1.6 now, after so many years of playing, it will not win any more. There is so many better games than Source! If 1.6 die there will be much bigger favorites for number 1 team action game :-)
