CLG bring in FugLy; pita to coach

CLG have filled out their roster for the 2016 season by signing ex-Liquid player Jacob 'FugLy' Medina as the team's fifth as well as making Faruk 'pita' Pita the team's head coach.

CLG saw a dip in form that brought the North American outfit from being perhaps the second best team in North America in the middle of 2015 to being the third best, as well as falling to 15th place in our latest team ranking.

After the ESL ESEA Pro League Season 2 finals, the team parted ways with longtime teammate Pujan "FNS" Mehta and announced an open recruitment period in the hopes of finding a fifth member.

FugLy finds a new home in CLG

The team have now announced that they have signed Jacob "FugLy" Medina as their fifth, who was last seen plying his trade for Liquid before quietly stepping down as that team decided to try out Aleksi "allu" Jalli before ultimately signing Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev.

In a statement on CLG's website, FugLy gave a few words on his signing to the North American organisation:

"CLG is a top tier organization in North America and I know that our future looks really good with their support and their involvement with the CS:GO team...Anything we need, whether it be a bootcamp or hiring a guy for analysis they can do for us."

"My strengths would definitely be being a team player and trading efficiently! I am not afraid to go in and revenge a kill if needed."

In addition, Faruk "pita" Pita, who was already brought on board to coach CLG for both Northern Arena and the ESL ESEA Pro League Season 2 finals in December, has been signed as the new head coach of CLG.

Both FugLy and pita himself spoke briefly about the decision to bring the storied player on board as coach:

"With the addition of pita as a coach, it means strict 'EU-esque' practice habits...I won't go into details, but with his help I'm convinced that we will do great things," Medina said.

"I have no expectations, only goals. We will take it one step at a time and hopefully be able to compete versus the best today," Pita said.

The new 2016 lineup for CLG Blue (so called to differentiate it from CLG Red) will be:

United States Tarik "tarik" Celik
United States Stephen "reltuC" Cutler
United States Josh "jdm64" Marzano
United States James "hazed" Cobb
United States Jacob "FugLy" Medina

Bosnia and Herzegovina Faruk "pita" Pita

-1, i dont think this will elevate the roster to the next level. they'll at best be back to what they were over parts of this year: making it kinda close in bo1s against europes top.

Look up GO4Balkan charity. He has defended himself in a hltv news post, but it's shady as fuck. Basically he couldn't properly explain where all the money from the event went, and NiP management was also involved in it. A user here on hltv made like a shit ton of forum posts about it.

Basically, all of the NA teams have gotten worse, except maybe Liquid. What another great shuffle. All that's left is coL, and Method hasn't had an official announcement yet right? It's sad to think the closest NA will ever get to a good major result was that GTR clutch on Train... Fugly might as well be FNS - he was statistically one of the worst players on Liquid, and won't add shit to the team. Great choice. Honestly, this E-League is going to be exactly like CGS in that it stops NA from actually winning tourneys that matter, and lets players focus on TV dough.

coL signed shinobi, the 3rd best player from Denial, and dephh, a UK player who has experience in source (iirc) but only 1 season of premier in CSGO. So many gambles this season - the only safe roster move among top teams was FugLy to CLG. Stewie to C9, s1mple to Liquid, shinobi and dephh to coL, even TACO and fnx to LG - all gambles.

Misconception: Hiko stole Fugly's spots and lurking role. What happened: Hiko took over most of Flowsicks spots, except post-Cluj where Hiko and Fugly changed spots on Mirage (this is the only one that I can think of). Even on T-sides, Hiko went into a more supportive role (Flowsicks) while Fugly lurked. Fugly started to fall off, statistically anyway, because Nitro and Elige started topping the fragging boards. Edit: Hopefully this move works out for Fugly, the guy can be insane. Probably the second best NA Shuffle roster move this offseason.

No, CLG is so mediocre..they haven't improved their strats over the past what? 14 months? They play fulltime and live in a gaming house but yet they failed to have the most simple terrorist strats.

I would expect most swedes to defend pita, but seems from this news that a lot think he scammed. If he did it or not, it's still shady as fuck, and i don't understand how people are hiring him all the time,

Slight upgrade for CLG. Unless Liquid or C9's gambles pay off way more than expected, it looks like the parity in top tier CS in USA is going to be the highest it's ever been. I could agree with any of the 3 teams being 1, 2, or 3 atm. Really just don't get the pita hiring though...

I like the Fugly addition, and pita in pure coaching aspect, but he lost all of the respect I (and a lot of others) had for him with the go4balkan charity. Worst explanation ever. Inb4 the news that pita is stepping down from coaching to focus on his job at a bank (which they for some reason must mention almost everytime). It's like he asks them to add it when being interviewed.

Looks like a solid roster. Hopefully they can have a greater impact with fugly. NA cs is looking to get much closer. Hopefully the top 3 (imo c9, liquid, clg) can make some sort of impact internationally too.

I've liked Fugly and CLG. This is a good move and I'll be cheering for them especially since Liquid is no longer all NA and C9 would have been better getting Fugly over sewage2k
