HellRaisers defeat PENTA 2-1

PENTA's road to the semi-finals started by beating LDLC White 16-13 on de_cache. The winners' match was hard for the German team as they lost 2-0 to E-frag.net. After losing the first map in the decider match to CG, they were able to pick up both of the last maps in overtime and advanced to the semis.

HellRaisers, interestingly, won their first match 16-14 against Lemondogs. They lost the first map in the winners' match but grabbed both of the last maps with 16-14 scores, meaning all three maps that they won went to thirty rounds.

The pistol round on de_mirage went to the CT-sided HellRaisers thanks to the triple-kill by Tomáš "⁠oskar⁠" Šťastný. HR were able to win the following two rounds but these rounds weren't clean as they lost three players in each of those, which led to a fragile economy.

PENTA couldn't capitilaze on this though, giving Patrik "⁠Zero⁠" Žúdel an impressive quad-kill from jungle area on the A site. With the wind on their backs, Kyrylo "⁠ANGE1⁠" Karasiow & co extended their round streak to eight. Kevin "⁠kRYSTAL⁠" Amend did not get a single kill in these rounds.

The ninth round marked PENTA's first win, but when they lost the next round, they called for a timeout. Martin "⁠STYKO⁠" Styk's 1v2 brought the score to 11-2 and Johannes "⁠tabseN⁠" Wodarz's ace meant HR led 12-3 at halftime.

PENTA had to make a good start to the second half if they wanted to stay in the game, and they did as they won the first nine rounds of the half, leading to a timeout from HR. The German team picked up the following two rounds and brought the score to 14-12 but HR suddenly answered back with two rounds of their own.

The teams exchanged the remaining two rounds and yet another overtime was due in Bucharest. ANGE1 kicked off the overtime with a quad-kill, putting his team in front once again. HR seemed determined as they closed it out 21-15.

The second map which was de_inferno started with an agressive middle push by PENTA on the CT-side and they got the pistol round. kRYSTAL's team didn't make a mistake in the eco rounds but lost the first gun round (3-1). The remainder of the half developed better for HR who led 9-6 at halftime.

Quad-kill from tahsiN earned his team another pistol round in the series but unlike the first half, they were able to get the first gun round as well, putting themselves 10-9 ahead. When the lead extended to 13-9, HR called a timeout. After losing the first eight, HellRaisers finally got a round in the second half but PENTA picked up the following round when they were 2v5 (15-10) and managed to finish it 16-11 ahead.

The last map began with HR on the CT-side who picked up the first three rounds. PENTA could not take advantage of David "⁠Davidp⁠" Prins's opening kill and trailed 4-0. The next round marked their first round and put their opponents in a harsh economical situation but HR managed to protect their advantage going into the last half of the series (11-4).

By getting the pistol round again, HR put themselves in a really favorable position to finish off PENTA but once again they were not able to do it as they lost 4 rounds in a row. But in the end ANGE1 & co closed it out 16-10 and eliminated PENTA.

HR will be going to the grand final to earn $30,000 and a spot at the MLG Columbus qualifer. They will play the winner of E-frag.net vs. PixelFire while PENTA will exit the tournament with $2,500 in cash prizes.
