MLG Columbus 2016 Main QualifierSPLYCE complete CLG upset
SPLYCE completed an upset win over CLG with a 16-14 scoreline on de_cache after a back-and-forth match in group C.
The domestic match-up between CLG and Splyce was taken to a 3-3 tie early on after the latter picked up three on the back of a pistol round, and the former replied in the first couple of gunrounds with two retakes in unfavorable situations.
After CLG took it to 4-3 after an eco it looked like another gunround would go in their favour as Jacob "FugLy" Medina rallied to a triple on the A site, but Jason "jasonR" Ruchelski had other things in mind, clutching a 1-on-3 with an AWP.
That clutch was the only round Splyce were able to win from there on until round number 13, but they made up for it with two in a row for a 6-9 half as Terrorists.
arya carried SPLYCE to a victory over CLG
Arya "arya" Hekmat answered CLG's pistol round win with three kills when his team stacked the B bombsite in a forcebuy afterwards, and managed to take the game to another tie at 10-10 and even take the lead after they survived a scary anti-eco.
When the underdogs got to 12-10, CLG used a timeout, but it didn't come to much fruition directly due to Abraham "abE" Fazli hammering them down on the A bombsite. That forced CLG in a nearly full eco, although James "hazed" Cobb bailed them out of a poor situation with entries and FugLy finished it off in a 1-on-1 clutch.
That seemed to have completely turned momentum around. Splyce went completely silent after numerous explosive reactions while CLG were slowly gaining control over the match.
However, arya saved his team with a 1-on-2 while facing a possibility of a match point for 14-14, Splyce took one themselves and destroyed the opposition in the final round for a big upset in group C.
