Global Challenge reach playoffs

The first day of the Global Challenge in Los Angeles has ended; day two will see the playoffs kicking in.

The first day featured the group stage seeing sixteen teams being cut down to eight as they proceed to the playoffs. The biggest upset of the day sure was when Paragon of Virtue sent home mTw. The Danes did even not make it through the group stage, as they also lost to GamePlay (former roccat). Aside from mTw not advancing, all the favorites advanced.

Day two will see the playoffs being played as double elimination matches and the best of one map. Eight teams made it to the playoffs and the matchups are as follows.

An inform GamePlay will be taking on MYM in the first round, possibly the most eagerly awaited tie of the round, well worth watching. The Swedes from fnatic will take on Evil Geniuses, the two last met at the KODE5 Global Finals where the Americans came out on top. Made in Brazil will have a shot at the team who knocked out mTw as they face Paragon of Virtue. Will the Americans stand a chance, or was the show versus mTw just a one-time performance? The American hope consisting of x3o will take on SK Gaming in the last match of the four upperbracket round 1 matches.

Make sure to drop by our coverage section for results, demos and photos from day one of the Global Challenge in Los Angeles.

POV just beat x3o 16-7 on inferno, I'm pretty sure all of us can admit that they are an upcoming team. Best of luck to them in the rest of the tournament!
