Alibaba unveils $1.5 million event

Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba has announced that it will host an international CS:GO tournament with $1.5 million in prize money.

The event, called the World Electronic Sports Games (WESG), will take place in December, in China, and will pay out a total of $5.5 million across the esports tournaments that will be held.

A total of $1.5 million will be shared in the CS:GO tournament, which is an all-time high prize fund for the game, surpassing the $1 million that is on offer at the Majors and the $1.2 million that will be at stake in ELEAGUE per season.

Alibaba announces its own esports event

The tournament will feature teams from all over the world, who will be determined by a lengthy qualifying process that will begin in April.

The first edition of the WESG will take place in Alibaba's home country, but the Chinese company is interested in hosting future events all over the globe and has invited other countries to submit applications for the 2017 iteration.

Meanwhile, Alisports - Alibaba's branch that will be in charge of the event - has announced that it will develop an anti-doping policy to "ensure the fairness" of the tournaments that will be hosted as part of the WESG.

and game is shit also compared to CS1.6 or Source(dont played ever), look rotations of CTS, from one to other side is just 5s/10s.. maybe you watched f3 v mouz today? b1ad3 was making some tactics with rotations so look how he ended, lose. first half as CT he played powerfull as it was in 1.6, but as t, they were demolished because of rotations who were possible in 1.6, and here not. if you take csgo as real counterstrike you will get dissapointed. cs its not about run and hs, its about brain. but as far as you can see, most of community have braindead, real ones retired.

I cannot take any tournament serious until there is proper transparent anti cheat measures and public info on drug testing. The clips mean fuck all, but believing none can cheat is way too naive. Fix this issue and you can make the scene really grow. There is too much uncertainty when it comes to that issue. The higher the prize money, the more people will lean towards cheating, as the consequences are little to none.

Can we all agree that csgo should have had 1 million$ prizepool tournament per year like dota? Some valve's asslickig retards will randomly appear here, who will go against this post, for people like those i'll just reveal the truth, which you blinded morons don't recognize/can't see, the truth which is annoying and disgusting for people who just enjoy cs as an E-sport : I got 40 years ban on my main hltv account for posting truth and only. :) There are several reasons which explains why we don't get one huge tournaments per year like "international" in dota2, the following reasons are : 1) There are 4 majors per year "istead" of 1 "international" tournament. (250 x 4 = 1,000000). 2) csgo "international" will get 4 times less viewers, which means that valve will get 4 times less money income. 3) Valve tries to tieup viewers by the fact that they may get souvenir drops (which isn't that hard to get if you're constantly watching majors.) 4) If there is going to be csgo's "international" tournament it means that there will be 4 times less souvenirs dropped, which is another blatant profit loss for valve I'm really thankful to Alibaba crew for finally giving to the game what it deserves, shame on you valve and all the retards who think that valve is doing GREAT job by giving us 4 majors per year.
