NiP over mouz to quarter-finals

Ninjas in Pyjamas took down mousesports 2-1 in the decider match of Group A in Columbus to reach the quarter finals (16-5 on de_cbble and 12-16 on de_cache, 16-9 on de_overpass).

The first match of day three at MLG Columbus 2016 was between Ninjas in Pyjamas and MOUZ as they met in a best-of-three series. MOUZ lost to Luminosity in their opening match but managed to eliminate FlipSid3 while Ninjas in Pyjamas picked up their first match against FlipSid3 and went on to lose to Luminosity in the winners' match.

The opening map was de_cbble, which was picked by MOUZ and Ninjas in Pyjamas chose the T-side to start. The A-site take by the Swedes was successful as Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund got three kills with his Tec-9 & armor. Ninjas in Pyjamas did not give up the anti-ecos despite Timo "Spiidi" Richter's cheeky tazer kill on the third round (3-0).

Adam "friberg" Friberg's opening kill on the A-site in the first weapon round paved the way for GeT_RiGhT to get two kills on the B-site and the ninjas made it 4-0. Their solid tactical executes continued and they got the sixth round to put MOUZ on another eco (6-0). Denis "denis" Howell's triple-kill brought the first round to the German side and it as they trailed 1-7. MOUZ picked up the following round, forcing Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg co. to a mixed buy (7-2).

Xizt showed up on de_cbble

After Ninjas in Pyjamas took the B-site once again with their smoke-wall strategy and won the round MOUZ called a tactical timeout (8-3). The situation did not improve though as Ninjas in Pyjamas finished the half 11-4 ahead.

The stand-in Björn "THREAT" Pers secured the pistol round of the second half for the ninjas with his triple-kill and they made it 14-4 by getting the anti-eco rounds. MOUZ kept themselves in the match by winning the first weapon round but Richard "Xizt" Landström clutched a 1v2 in the subsequent round and the Swedes acquired 10 match points. The B-rush by MOUZ was not successful and Ninjas in Pyjamas wre victorious with a 16-5 scoreline.

The second map, de_cache, was Ninjas in Pyjamas's pick and the MOUZ managed to get the pistol round and the second round. An early third round buy helped Ninjas in Pyjamas change the momentum as they trailed 2-1. denis almost clutched in a 1v3 when his team forced but GeT_RiGhT stopped him to get his quad-kill (2-2).

MOUZ decided to force buy again on the fifth round and the Swedes punished them, forcing them to eco. THREAT picked up a triple-kill on MOUZ' next buy round to make it 5-2 in favor of Ninjas in Pyjamas. MOUZ won a 2v2 and then stopped an A rush to get back in the game as they trailed 4-6.

NiKo was unstoppable on the second map

MOUZ tied it at 6-6 and had a 5v3 advantage to get the lead but GeT_RiGhT came on top of a 1v1 against Johannes "nex" Maget. Nikola "NiKo" Kovač & company finished the half 8-7 ahead. Ninjas in Pyjamas took the lead by getting the pistol and the anti-ecos (10-8). The first weapon round went the way of Ninjas in Pyjamas thanks to friberg's opening kill on Chris "chrisJ" de Jong (11-8).

MOUZ turned it around with NiKo going ham, tying it at 12-12. Spiidi & denis chimed in with their entries which allowed mouz to take the lead (13-12). They did not slow down and took the second map 16-12.To decide it all, we went to de_overpass with Ninjas in Pyjamas starting on the CT-side and grabbing the pistol round. Spiidi's double entry paid off with the first weapon round win as mouz secured their first round (3-1).

THREAT fragged well on de_overpass

Ninjas in Pyjamas stopped MOUZ with friberg picking up a triple-kill after giving up five rounds in a row and the Swedes tied it at 5-5 afterwards. f0rest clutched in a 1v2 situation and defused the bomb to put his team ahead 7-6. Each Ninjas in Pyjamas picked up a kill in the 14th round and closed the half with a 9-6 lead.

MOUZ won the pistol round and the second round of the second half buy Ninjas in Pyjamas's early weapon buy worked and they got the round (10-8). The tough economical situation of mouz allowed Ninjas in Pyjamas to run away with it as they extended their lead to 14-8.

Starting the following round, mouz had a single rifle but made the force buy work as they grabbed their ninth round. In the end, that round win did not matter and Ninjas in Pyjamas finished it 16-9.

Go through groupstages to (at least) quarter-final with stand-in with 8 hours of practice at overall on biggest CSGO tournament in history is pretty good result. :) I'm sure that their goal was make it to the grand final before they Valve & MLG confirmed that pyth won't be able to play on this tournament.

What are you implying? If ur gonna come with this bullshit that threat used to be a amazing player spare me the details, it's about the present, and in present shape, he wasn't more than a DMG that knew a few smokes. That what makes it so painful for mouz, and more amazing for NiP, who completely deserved it.

If threat beats 4 of the mouz members in straight duels over the entirity of the game, you have no right to win that game.

Think the word you are looking for is nothing instead of anything. And I'm obviously making a comparison regarding threat. I am not calling him a DMG, I'm saying his gamestyle was. The fact NiP had their teamwork sorted out won them the game. This isn't an attack against the guy, he did amazing. But we are talking about professional CS GO players here, this is their job. And they (mouz) got stomped by a guy not much better than a random DMG. (Again, not insulting threat here, but keep in mind he didn't play for YEARS.)

Still.. DMG? It's so hard to argue with a guy that calls Threat a DMG. Seriously, I pretty much suck at CSGO and I still go between Supreme and Global. I would not stand a chance against anyone in NiP, even Threat. Agreed that Threat is not on the same level as the rest, which he should not be. Since he is retired and a coach. But still, he has played on the highest level before and can in no way, shape or form be compared to a middle level MM rank. Like I said, no one even uses MM rank to compare anything even remotely professional except for those who are new to CS.

Please Mouz, explain to me why the fuck you would pick cobblestone? You just showed yesterday that you are absolutely terrible on it plus NiP has had over 50 rounds to study anything you guys do have on that map, but you still pick fucking cobblestone. As much as I want Mouz to win everything, they really only have themselves to blame for such a stupid decision. There's dust2 available, a map on which chrisJ is absolutely beast and you as a team win so much on it, but no.. we pick fucking cobblestone.. fak.

Threat had 2nd highest number of kills on his team over 3 maps. Stop comparing him to fucking fifflaren. 9-44 never forget!

Extremely proud of you, NiP <3 Btw, why everyone hating them - like they are tier 3, etc. when they went to quarters even with stand-in? Let's be honest, even fnatic would struggle with vuggo instead of dennis / KRIMZ..

Agree, but also lets not forget about threat's achievments in 1.6 and his short career as a player in csgo which wasn't bad at all. vuggo is nowhere near threats level and nip are lucky to have hin

THREAT didnt play cs for 1 year, besides achieving literally nothing in his really short cs:go experience as a player, wasnt even a top3 player in his team (which wasnt even a tier4 team so... that says alot).

Got to say HUGE respect to NiP and Threat in particular, not just for playing very well in these games but also for managing to make NiP, historically one of the hardest teams to shape in Cs:Go adjust not only to his new tactics but to then even adjust to him standing in, let's be honest Threat isn't one of the best players (skill wise) in the world but thanks to his tactical mind and the players around him holding confidence in what his gameplay/vision is I have extremely high hopes for NiP, its a shame that the first major with the new line up ended up in this situation but talk about making the absolute best out of a bad situation.

Nice NiP! I'm not expecting anymore than this now. Getting to the Playoffs with Threat is enough for me atm.
