Na`Vi beat NiP; to semi-finals

Natus Vincere are through to the semi-finals at MLG Columbus after moving past Ninjas in Pyjamas 2-0 (16-9 on Inferno and 16-10 on Mirage).

The series kicked off on Inferno, and the story about the opening six rounds was all about Na`Vi's great defensive setup inside the A site. Time and time again, NiP were left frustrated while trying to enter the site, and they had to rely on a 1vs2 clutch from Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg to finally claim a round.

The Swedes would be able to make it two in a row, but then Na`Vi regained control of proceedings and went on a fantastic run that saw them close out the half with a commanding 13-2 lead.

In the second half, NiP looked the livelier of the two sides during the early stages, winning seven of the first eight rounds, with Adam "friberg" Friberg leading the charge. Na`Vi were struggling to build up their bank, but then Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács did what he does best as he paved the way for his team to win the round with two crucial AWP kills, putting the CIS team on map point before Ioann "Edward" Sukhariev applied the finishing blow in a 1vs2 clutch.

Na`Vi move on in Columbus

Na`Vi carried their momentum into the second map, Mirage, and strolled to a 5-0 lead after a flying start on the Terrorist side. NiP then picked up a round but they were unable to build on them, getting reset and being forced to call a timetout. The move paid off as NiP turned a 1-6 deficit into a hotly-contested 5-7 scoreline, displaying great synergy in two eco rounds, but Na`Vi strung the last three rounds together to take a five-round lead into the break.

It was more of the same in the early stages of the second half as Na`Vi picked up four rounds in succession to get dangerously close to match point. With no margin for error, NiP still tried to find their way back into the game and won five of the next six rounds, but Na`Vi remained calm and collected and sealed a 16-10 victory that puts them through to the last-four stage-

Well Na'Vi just targeted NiP's weak point (Threat) if they had pyth; the game would have been a different story. Inb4 you make a joke about pyth being a weak point anyway.

What's done is done. Just leave it alone and don't regret it. Don't even wanna think about what would have happened if pyth played.

It could of gone either way. 2-1 nip or 2-1 Na'Vi if pyth played tbh. You're being biased because they're a CIS team. End of story.

1) They did not target THREAT, it was couple of rounds when seized was deliberately seeking an aim duel vs him on mirage that's it. On inferno, THREAT is playing on arch side, and tell me how the hack you are not gonna deal with arch when attacking A site? 2) Pyth is surely a better player than THREAT, but cmon Na'Vi has been in a sick form lately, with their last match lost being on IEM vs LG, which was extremely close. They have lost only 1 map since then to F3 on Counter pit. There would be no way even with pyth that NiP would win this. I like NiP, and I think that they are on a rise, and even maybe they will thrive for a top placement on the next major, but now it is just obvious that Na'Vi on a completely different level.

Okay, maybe they didn't seek threat the whole 2 maps but Na'Vi knew NiP were weaker so they just exploited that which ofc any team would do. I agree on your other points but I still say it could have gone either way if pyth was playing. This is NiP at the majors we're talking about dude. You can never count them out (as a full team with pyth of course)

Despite this THREAT still showed up, probably as I would say to the best of his ability. Consider how much time he had to practice and everything. But you're right, whether they won or lost they would have had a completely better performance with pyth despite anyone's opinion on his personal skill level.

Yeah this tournament would have been maybe the best major if Olof's wrist wasn't fucked and Pyth was able to play. Still a good major but I'm disappointed a little bit personally.

Too much handicap with Threat. 16 09 and 16 10. If they could win like 1 or 2 rounds more with Pyth per half it would already be like 13 12 and 13 13. But that doesn't really matter now, can't change shit anyway

Oh wow so instead of having Pyth and Friberg bottom frag every game they had Threat and Friberg bottom fragging what a big difference. If Vuggo play he'd actually be replacing a good player so yeah it would hurt Fnatic way more than threat does playing for Pyth who is a onliner trash player himself.

damn ! you haters are the worst thing that could happen to this community.they were playing 4v5, threat is no where near other players (no blame),they practised with him for 8 hrs, look at those stats of threat(18-40).It so easy to play against a team which has a weak link ,all they have to is kill him and get fair trades. there must always be someone bottom fragging u retard.pyth is way better than threat.Instead of hating a team try to give them credit for what they have done.

Not hating they only made top 8 because of threat, if they played with Pyth they would of lost in the group stage. Pyth on LAN is not better than threat online only.

"lurppis ‏@lurppis_ 5 minför 5 minuter sedan NiP's opening duel usage at @MLG: GTR 34.3% friberg 19.3% Xizt 18.8% f0rest 17.7% threat 9.9% What a massive change in roles." This is what made NiP lose so many t-rounds on inferno. GeT_RiGhT running as first man almost every fucking round, it's insane when you have players that is way worse that can do that role and give info to the others. GGWP Na'Vi! Shame on you NiP. " lurppis ‏@lurppis_ 2 minför 2 minuter sedan Considering GTR took more than 1/3 of the team's duels, a staggering figure, his best-in-team 1.07 rating (84.8 ADR) looks impressive."

He is more or less back to his old role. He was never a lurker in his prime of fnatic or when nip were dominating the csgo-scene. He was just better than everyone else.. Having a player that good as a lurker is a total waste of skill and im glad threat has realized this. It looked very promising for them until pyth couldn't come and thats very unfortunate. The biggest mistake they did on inferno was relying way too heavily on GT's opening frags rather than to play it strategically with set-up smoke rounds and executions.. Giving threat the role that pyth has on banana is just not going to work against a team like Navi either. Saying "shame on you NIP" when they reach the quarter-final in a major with a stand-in who hasn't played in ages is just weird :)

Ye, I know GT was never a lurker in 1.6 except for his time in SK. But yeah, stupid of me saying "Shame on you". Was just so mad that GT needed to go first all the time, fucked them up really hard on inferno :p

NiP should retire, dont push it. you guys are not tier 1 anymore..accept that, take your pride and retire, u have no one to proof here.. u should embarrass yourself and the organisation. give space for new comers, and y'll just retire.

he was not invited, he was already strat calling and perfectly knew the tactics and the positions of every player. that's not something you can practice in 2 days. they probably could not invite anyone else anyway.
