HLTV.org website new records set

Last week's $1,000,000 major, MLG Columbus, not only broke the prize money and viewership records in CS:GO (drawing 1,349,325 concurrent viewers during the grand final), but it also helped HLTV.org set some new records of our own, the most important of which being finally reaching over 4,000,000 users in a month's time.

MLG Columbus brought CS:GO to new heights

To be precise, from March 4th until April 3rd we were visited by 4,070,298 unique users according to Google Analytics. Those users started over 33 million sessions and viewed almost 177 million pages, thus helping us break the record that stood at around 3.8 million unique users since November last year.

In general, with 3.5-4 million users that visit HLTV.org on a monthly basis we can estimate that over 33% of the CS:GO players (10.5 million according to Valve's February update) follow competitive Counter-Strike through our website.

And just like with CS:GO itself, our site grows around every major tournament and this one was no exception, drawing almost 1.9 million unique users in the 6 days of the tournament alone (albeit as the longest one yet). That number also ranks at the top of the list compared to the previous 7 majors, as can be seen on the graph below.

In addition to the growth due to the major itself (+32% compared to DH Cluj-Napoca), we were also happy with the reception of our two latest features, the new player profiles and the mobile app that came out just before the big event.

The new player profiles debuted on March 25 and by the end of the major had already accrued over 800,000 views, while the mobile app was downloaded over 30,000 times combined on Android and iOS.

So far it has been a great and sometimes a crazy ride with our community, and the journey is far from over as we hope to provide you with even better coverage and features in the future.
