PGL revise spots for Asia Minor

PGL updated their slot distribution for the PGL KeSPA Regional Minor Championship Asia which will take place from May 5-8.

Yesterday's announcement saw PGL creating an exclusive qualifier for the Oceanian teams that will take place from April 19-21 and the previous slot distribution, which gave out two invite, two Chinese, two Korean, and two Asian spots, had to be revamped.

The Chinese qualifiers have already been completed and VG.CyberZen and TYLOO qualified, which meant that excluding a Chinese slot wouldn't be possible. The other two teams that were confirmed for the Asia Minor were Renegades and The MongolZ who received the invite slots.

Renegades were invited alongside TheMongolz

The Romanian company decided to remove one of the Asian invites as South Korea kept their two slots. The updated distribution now looks as follows:

Other Invite spot  Other Invite spot  China Chinese spot  China Chinese spot
Korea Korean spot  Korea Korean spot  Other Asian spot  Other Oceanian spot

With this update, 128 Asian teams that are not from China or South Korea will battle it our for one spot instead of two in the Asian qualifier that will take place from the 12th to the 14th of April.

THIS IS BS!! There is 2 spots for Korea than is completely irrelevant on CSGO and just 1 for the rest of Asia, where you can find several teams better than Korean best. Valve should really address these kind of stuff on Minors and assure there is equal chances for all teams. YOU FUCKED UP PGL!!, this minor has been completely whored out. PS: sorry for hijacking your comment :P

I never said they can't, but it's quite obvius they shouldn't do it. Minors should try to be inclusive and not exclusive, simple as that. There is no underlines on it, political or economical readings or any of that kind of stuff. Minors were created to give new chances to more teams around the world and as things stands today, asian Minor will have 6 teams from 3 countries and only one chance to players from the rest of the continent besides Mongolz. That's completely unfair and not just that, it's harmful for CS as competition and viewers. Since there is actually a bunch of better teams on the rest of Asia than anything you can't find on Korea. To some degree is the same kind of shit we saw on ECS this week, with Tempo Storm not being invited to qualifiers at least, but you had KKona and Obey Alliance there and Complexity with TSM getting direct invites. Not just Tempo Storm, we all know Selfless is also a better team than CoL or TSM but had to go to qualies to end up being defeated after a player was ddosed. Or Flipsid3 on Europe than also didn't got a chance to qualify but you had SK and AGG there undeniably worse teams than F3.

The purpose of a minor is to give teams experience If you wanted the best teams you would watch the majors instead. Obviously Korean teams need tournament experience, and therefore they want to arrange one where they can get one. So if Kespa arranges a minor for asian teams and gives 25% of the spots to their own teams, what's wrong with that? Noone is forcing Kespa to host a tournament or to invite non-kespa teams to it, but they did that anyway because they are reasonable. How can it be a bad thing to let teams from other asian countries have a chance to enter their tournament just because there aren't enough spots to compete for?

Are u korean? Minors are about give more chances to teams than previously had none to get on majors. It's a great way for some teams to gain experience, but that's not the reason Minors were created. The only Minor with issues is the Asian one, because is the less developed from all and nobody really cares about them. Organizers got away with stuff you wouldn't have chance to do on Europe. Or do you think PGL had a chance to invite 2 romanians teams on the last one? Or that if they did it all was fair and good? On the end, I don't give a fuck about the teams than qualify from asian Minor, more than likely they will be out on the qualifier anyway. But it's quite simple to understand than Valve handled the event to the wrong company. You can think it's fair and nothing was wrong as much as you want, that doesn't neglect the fact than the rest of Asia was left out for this event.

Another hijack appears! Just throw the Korean spots to the rest of asia and boom, problem solved! The Korean teams now actually have to do well to get to the minor and it does not exclude them or fuck them over like the Oceanians and the rest of asia got.

I do agree, as i said sostronk even with their bad management>all asian organization yet on the european/NA scale they still suck and bad and favor teams over others. Why don't they open Middle eastern servers just like asia? because indian team wouldn't like to play on them even though they would have low ping. And no, not all middle eastern teams have decent ping to india, jordan/lebanese teams have +150 ping. Only teams from The gulf area have decent ping Kuwait:~100 (not all ISPS) UAE:~60 KSA:~100 (not all cities)

Nope, someone asked this on SoStronk forums about Dubai servers, and they replied that they are still studying their player density and would open servers up in future, (this was like 4 months ago) and no players wont decide that which servers to play on, SoStronk has its own way of selecting server based on weighted ping, and i think there is going to be a dubai server for qualifier especially for KSA and kuwait. You cant call them bad based on just the fact that they dont have servers in Dubai(which isnt the likely case since i think they will have for this qualifier.)

WHAT ? Timing issue will happen in every qualifier, because there is a time limit for the qualifiers and the games should end in the specific time alloted., and so many games to be played out, you cant please everyone in this situation, every qualifier has these issues, and you just have to deal with it. You are 1000% wrong in your last point, i was there when this news broke out regarding the qualifiers, the official announcement was done by PGL, and and i opened the page, when nobody was registered , and my team was the 3rd-4th which registered there following the announcement, nobody is going to come at your door and knock you and tell you this, if you actively checked reddit, you wouldnt be saying this.

No? not true at all lol.. ive played in several qualifiers since ESWC 2007 to this day there is no qualifier that started at 7AM for some people and noon for others? Why should we be the ones that wake in the morning? I actively check reddit/HLTV and i follow PGL there were teams that got the news before others and the server locations is biased. Your team might be one of the teams that got informed before others that is why you might be defending them lol. Still 100x>mixbot and their retarded admins..

You cant change the routing, very limited ISP's in the world allow that to happen, changing routing is a very big deal for ISPs and most of them dont allow it to happen. May be you are right, but i dont think it will happen.

PGL wants to host in Korea for some reason, KeSPA demands 2 spots or no host. You think PGL can remove 1 Korean spot just like that? If PGl wants to remove Korean spot they either would have to move location from South Korea or pay giant chunk of money to KeSPA.

Why is there 2 Korean spots? One would fine but they are plenty of better SEA teams. There been an ANZ spot is ok but It really needs there own Minor

Okay so, Renegades moved to the US to compete in NA leagues and such. Last edition of the minor it still made sense to invite Renegades to the Asia minor because they had only moved to the US a few weeks before and hadn't competed in anything.. That's not the case now. They're competing in the ESL Pro League. Why do they get to play the Asia minor?

Curious about the groupings Most likely they will separate the 2 Koreans into different groups as well as the 2 Chinese teams as they qualified from the same pre-qualifiers But will they put Immunity in a different group from Renegades just due to them being Australians? if so we already know the groups for the Asia Minor right now LOL

Aaaahh.. :( Well, then I guess it was good that they removed an Asian slot because MVP.k would've definetely made it through.

Teams should be able to qualify based on merit, not bias. Does korea even have 2 teams that can compete with lets say the 1-5 best teams from china?

MVP and t5 are the 2 best Korean teams at the moment. MVP can beat maybe 5th best cn team on a really good day. T5 are worse. Although there are rumours that there are going to be roster changes in MVP. Some project.Kr players are also making a team for the qualifier.

okey 2 korean spots looks bad but its almost irrelevant in the big picture. renegades and 1 chinese team are almost guareanteed to win major qualifier spots. TheMongolz can surprise once again. but 1 or 2 spots for asia is almost the same.. hopefully their best team wins and gets an opportunity to win against the favourires but 2 teams wouldnt make it any more likely asia needs to get off their bubble, join some lower tier EU tournaments to prove their worth in the big picture, prove their worth against bigger scenes.

1 spot for the host country makes sense, but 2? No way, especially not at the expense of the rest of Asia.
