eXplosive have been disqualified from the StarLadder CIS Minor after Valve found that one of Mikhail "s3mig0d" Lakhvich's Steam accounts received a VAC ban three years ago.

Yesterday eXplosive earned a spot at StarLadder's CIS Minor by defeating Binary Dragons Gold in the quarter-finals of the closed qualifier as one of the four qualified teams.

However, Valve have found that one of eXplosive's players, Mikhail "⁠s3mig0d⁠" Lakhvich, has received a CS:GO VAC ban on his Steam account, making him ineligible to play in Valve-affiliated events.

Valve have decided to disqualify the entire team from the StarLadder CIS Minor and instead invited Binary Dragons Gold, who were the last to lose to eXplosive in the closed qualifier.

soz4edit misread anyway accounts being VACd will be dealt with case by case above tier3 without the players even needing to appeal, work will be done by valve-workers/volunteers themselves due to the amount of exposure a high level ban gets. if it's found that IPs don't match etc, or that some acc got stolen (logs from different countries and clear scamming taking place) then innocent players won't be banned

I think you totally missed the point. The punishment needs to be reasonable. Of course you can have a death penalty for jaywalking and say that "if you get caught you're gonna bleed" but it still doesn't make any sense. People make mistakes. Lots of pro players have "a little history" in cheating, how do you think the "dont fucking cheat" advice is going to help? Do you want them to invent a time machine or what?

Yes, the rules are harsh. yes, people make mistakes, especially kids. And yes the punishment is out of proportion. No one could ever predict at launch this game was gonna get so big. It really sucks for them but Valve has had 0 tolerance from the beginning of csgo. They cant go back now. They never can. It would make them look like giving in to cheaters. I think the shitstorm would be bigger if they suddenly started removing vac bans. Imo there's never a valid reason to instal cheats.

I agree on everything else but I'm not sure it would look like they're giving in to cheaters if they set a reasonable expiry time for the bans. 3 years would be sufficient IMO, maybe 5 if you want to go that far. Valve needs to be more official about all this. Is the current policy that if you've ever had a VAC ban in CS:GO, you're unable to attend Valve sponsored events? There have been VAC bans issued before Valve started sponsoring events, those players are also barred? Maybe a correct decision but a little bit confusing because Valve's previous policy was that if you get VAC banned, just buy a new game. They never intended the bans to be per player basis, just per account basis. What about stolen accounts? Shared accounts? VAC bans triggered by software other than cheats? Instances where player clearly cheated in CS:GO based on demos or evidence from other anticheats? Those players are not banned AFAIK, they should be.

To be fair, if the ban is for 5 years I don't think the player would have any motivation to go on. And teams would be skeptical too of picking such a player with shady history. Yeah, true. I was thinking it could help players like s3mig0d who made a stupid mistake in the past when they didn't know they would be a pro player one day. 3 years and the ban would expiry +- few months. As I said, 5 years would be cutting it but waiting 2 more years could be possible for s3mig0d. Of course the change wouldn't help KQLY or anyone who has just been recently banned. It's fine IMO, KQLY was already a pro player when he committed his offense. That's a much more serious thing than cheating in a random MM game when you were DMG. He deserves a long ban, perhaps a lifetime one.

You really cant see any issues with punishment being the same for everyone, regardless of conditions(cheated in pro match, or just noname kid fukin around on pub server?) same ban, and no chance to reform? So if you cheat in ESL you get banned for 2 years and if u fucking have cheats in mm/casual/valve dm u get banned for life lmao, I remember there was a case in league of legends with an european player who is playing for C9 now (incarnati0n or whatever it was) and he got banned for drophacking and ddosing his enemies which is way bigger crime than cheating in casual lol. And he got unbanned by riotgames, honestly valve is so lame compared to other companies

The ESL ban he's referring to is not a VAC ban. VAC ban means life. It also proves VAC works like shit, because it wasnt able to recognise the person cheating

hayyyy better witch hunt a random nonamer who was doing okayish on fpl and below average in a team. From all the matches i saw from him he never once had a fishy moment. Now we have ibp banned while some tier2 players were convinced of matchfixing and just let go scott free. Let's all be serious and ask ourselves who look the more fishy fnx or that dude? ^^ Moral of the story: if youe ver get caugh cheating once in the past, fucking cheeat your balls off blatantly untill you join a higher tier team and valve won't touch you. If they want to be taken as serious they better apply the same rule set for EVERYONE. In the meantime they look like clowns and crooks.

Why do you keep bringing this up? This is just retarded logic. CS GO is part of the CS brand, many players who played in 1.6 and Source also play CS GO now. Coders that were making hacks for the previous 2 games also make hacks for GO. What part of that don't you understand? Of course no one would give a shit if someone got banned I'm GTA.
