Alec "Slemmy" White will be Cloud9's new in-game leader following the team's existential search for leadership after a poor performance at the MLG Columbus Major.

The North American side have been struggling to fill the gap left by Sean "⁠seang@res⁠" Gares, with Jordan "⁠n0thing⁠" Gilbert filling in as the team's ingame leader to no avail. Ultimately, however, Cloud9 have brought in Alec "⁠Slemmy⁠" White to fill the gap, as the twenty-five-year-old SKDC graduate will be in charge of calling for the team.

Meanwhile, the futures of Without a Roof and Ryan "⁠freakazoid⁠" Abadir are uncertain, as the former now face the ESEA Premier playoffs without a fifth and the latter is still under contract with Cloud9.

n0thing will be able to focus on his game again as Slemmy takes the reins as IGL

The newcomer, who lead Without a Roof's (ex-Obey) rag-tag lineup to a second place in the Premier division of ESEA, will count with the experience of n0thing and Andrew "⁠Irukandji⁠" Timmerman to help him with the task of calling for a top-flight squad, and will be reunited with fellow ex-teammate (on SKDC, ex-eLevate, FolloweSports.com, and Splyce) Jake "⁠Stewie2K⁠" Yip.

Yeah, I mean it's sad to see players like Shroud and Ska on a team like C9. They brought in this Slemmy guy who is totally unproven to lead a team with big time international (for NA standards) experience. Slemmy has lead some tier 2-3 NA teams and his team has beaten a couple of better teams online. However on LAN, they haven't done jack shit, taken a map of winterfox in a BO3, taken a map of CLG and beat old Method in a BO1. And this guy is going to lead a CSGO team who is expected to be the top of his region, compete internationally and make it to the biggest tournaments in the game. He has proven that he can't keep up with lower skilled NA players frag wise, so I really hope for C9 that this guy is some kind of mad scientist genius who can outsmart the best teams in the world, otherwise he is just a big waste of time for everyone, including us spectators.

The move is imo illogical, Irukandji looked like he brought some life back to C9, and I think most fans would be pleased if Irukandji handled the leading and C9 brought in a player who can actually play the game.

I wouldn't say it was an easy choice back then tho, Gob B wanted to play and C9 would only took him as coach. When Gob was on Mouz "Bot B" was quite a thing, he didn't seem to be at a proper level to be a top team player. He's been trying hard to improve aimwise and has shown some good stuff lately on NRG. Probably on the next months after Cologne and all the big leagues (ECS, ESL and ELeague) come to an end, he will have a chance on a top NA team.

gob b was kicked from mousesports after he turned down many offers from other orgs because he was sure he would be playing for mousesports in the future. NRG was the best offer he could get this spontaneously at the time.

Then when he was kicked and free, C9 should've picked him up. But they opted to keep Freak in the team and have n0thing IGL, which we all know failed miserably, in the meantime Gob B slipped out of C9's hands and joined NRG.

Picking up FREAKAZOID was a lucky pick and it worked for a while, although they seem to be regretting that decision already. They desperately need more firepower, this is even low level of skill for a NA standards. They have one over rated player in shroud, inconsistent Ska and nothing else good luck to them though they'll need it badly after this roster move.

Sometimes it's better to put in the time to mold someone than to blow a lot of money of a player that may or may not perform. This same shit happened when they picked up Stewie and he's proven to be valuable. Unfortunately they haven't won anything due to other issues within the team. But Slemmy could actually turn out to be a good pick. We just need to give him time to adjust.

I understand that logic but they aren't doing that they are getting players who been around in the scene for a couple years already and were always bad. Just look at stewie the kid was getting dumpstered in tier 3 NA online, freakazoid gone from the scene for a long time not playing and even when he was active in Source he was bad, Slemmy come on? He doesn't even have a past he's just bad. We both know that there are more established players in NA who probably deserve that salary a lot more than these terrible players. This whole we need to give them time to adjust and all this other bullshit is a bad excuse, nV made a roster change and won a major right after, LG made roster changes went to 3 finals in top tournaments in a row and won a major, Fnatic made a roster change and won 8 LAN titles in a row. When your a top org in your region you don't get that excuse privilege of a tier 2-3 team who have no expectations.
