Luminosity beat TS to win DH Austin

Luminosity have won DreamHack Austin's CS:GO tournament after beating Tempo Storm 2-0 (16-9 on Mirage and Cobblestone).

With no more U.S. representatives in contention in Austin after Liquid and Cloud9 were sent packing, the grand final of the tournament was an all-Brazilian clash between Luminosity and Tempo Storm, with Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo's men picking up a 2-0 victory in what was a one-sided series.

Mirage began with Luminosity getting out to an early 3-0 lead after overturning a 2vs4 situation in the pistol round, but once Tempo Storm bought up the impetus of the game changed significantly, with Henrique "⁠HEN1⁠" Teles powering his team to secure back-to-back rounds.

Tempo Storm were, however, unable to equalise the score as Luminosity quickly regained control of the game, fuelled by an ace from Fernando "⁠fer⁠" Alvarenga in the seventh round. The MLG Columbus champions would increase their lead to 7-3, but Tempo Storm held on and kept the deficit to three rounds by the end of the half.

A flying start from Luminosity on the CT side of the map saw them take five rounds in a row, forcing Tempo Storm to call a tactical pause in a bid to adjust their offense. The move paid dividends as they bagged three rounds straight, but their dreams would soon be crushed as Luminosity sealed the win with back-to-back rounds.

On map two, Cobblestone, Tempo Storm flourished during the opening stages as they got out to a 5-0 lead, but then Luminosity went on a great run that saw them drop just one more round before the end of the half.

Down 6-9, Tempo Storm kept themselves in the game by winning the pistol round as CT courtesy of a 1vs2 clutch from Gustavo "⁠SHOOWTiME⁠" Gonçalves, but Luminosity pushed back in the following round in a force buy. The former Games Academy team still tried to fight their way into the game, but the rounds they won were quickly countered by the Major champions, who got back to winning ways after a disappointing showing at DreamHack Masters Malmö.

I consider it an extreme stroke of luck/good fortune for LG to have won the major. Olofmeister and Guardian were both essentially out due to their injuries, when Fnatic has won every single tournament that they've participated in, since picking up Dennis. Na'Vi would have run over LG, as usual, if Guardian wasn't injured.

tournaments are getting more and more boring, I'm tired of teams dominating all the time, fnatic, envyus, LG, I'm waiting for the day that tournaments aren't predictable.

Na'vi vs LG matches are always incredible to watch.

Most of the time, but I really want a final that isnt a clear cut 2-0, look at the last events, everything is predictable and always a 2-0 smash. CS is getting so boring to watch. Only good thing about that is when a game is exciting it becomes REALLY exciting.

I agree with you at some level, the top 3 teams right now are miles from the rest. But still there some good matches, like LG vs Astralis Inferno sometime ago, also Inferno C9 vs TS was a great map to watch, hard to keep still while watching xD

Top 3 are miles from the rest and than top 1 is miles of the top 2-3, its fun to see teams dominate but boring at the same time since its predictable and you know the outcome before the match even started.

Right now the scene only has 3 top teams, and even then Astralis are the clear thirds behind Luminosity and NaVi, when the top level is competitive and stable the scene is fun to watch, the era around cologne 2015 when any of the top 4 (TSM, Fnatic, VP and nV) could have won it was very entertaining and then below it NaVi, Luminosity, C9, Kinguin and NiP were all good for upsets and close series, was the best era. The scene is really unstable cuz of VP, Fnatic, and nV slumping, teams like mouz and dignitas look a lot better cuz they can beat these top teams but are too inconsistent to mae any game have worth, Dignitas beating VP in fall of 2015 is exciting but now its almost depressing cuz the scene is seemingly based on luck with all these slumps and upsets.

I really hope there are more NA/Brazilian only LANs.
