FalleN: "The G2 game was a wake up"

We managed to grab Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo after Luminosity's narrow three-map encounter with Astralis for an interview about their earlier loss to G2 and the elimination match.

Luminosity surprisingly lost to G2 on Train in the opening round of Group A despite getting 11 rounds on the CT side.

As Astralis lost to OpTic in another upset, the two met in an exciting series and it was the Brazilians who came out on top after another Train as the deciding map.

FalleN admitted making mistakes against G2

Read below to find out what the AWPer and in-game leader, Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo, had to say about their two matches so far at ESL Pro League Season 3 Finals:

Let's talk about G2 at first, you had a big lead at the start but then dropped off, especially on the T side, what happened there?
Against G2 my calls were not that good. We tried to play a looser style when it wasn't working and we actually had a good advantage to realize that and tried to change it, but I think made some mistakes in in-game leading and I couldn't change it at all. And G2 played super well, so props to G2. The game was kind of a wake up for us and we showed it against Astralis that we were better this time.
Going over to Astralis, your T sides were a bit lackluster, is that the in-game leading as well or do you think it stems from something else?
Dust2 is a map we're trying to improve and recently we have only been playing against North American teams and the main difference is that we don't get punished too much when we're trying to get catwalk control and those kinds of things. And this game device was playing super well on CT side, getting some kills which let us to not execute our strats well. We need more experience on Dust2, that's for sure, but it's a better map than Cache for us, so we're gonna keep improving it and it's gonna be a better map for us.
Do you think not having Nuke in the map pool yet benefited you? It seemed like Astralis were very off on the map as they lost to OpTic.
Inferno is a map that we like very much, we are a very good team on Inferno, so having Nuke instead of Inferno is kind of bad for us, because we need to learn this new map. I don't think it changed anything for anyone recently. I'm excited for the future and Nuke, we're gonna start practising it as soon as we get back home. Hopefully we can be a good team on that map.
Talking about Train, a lot of these situations came down to clutches, 3v3 afterplants and overall close situations, did you have a specific game plan going into the decider?
This game was super intense and super close as you said, every single round we had to make a retake as CT. We didn't have anything prepared for that, we just had to realize the conditions we are in and understand our roles at the specific time during the round. And I think we made that perfectly, a lot of our retakes were super good, we lost only one. cajunb went from CT and they made a wrap to ivy and we didn't know that, that's why they won this round. But other than that I think we did super well, the timings worked perfectly, the teamwork was perfect, so I think our team played very well in this aspect.
device said that you and him have a similar style on Train, did you notice that at any point in the game, was he outplaying you in that sense?
He played super well on T side, way better than I did. He found so many kills for his team, but on the CT side I think I played well. He showed more strength on T side than me, he's a super good AWPer, one of the best in the world for sure, so there's no shame in losing to device in my opinion. It's fine, maybe I need to watch demos and see some of the stuff he was doing so I can improve my game as well.

Luminosity are set on a collision course with OpTic in tomorrow's Group A decider, which is the second match of day two after the American showdown between Cloud9 and Liquid, scheduled for 14:00

Or u can say that the G2 game was a signal not to turn the cheats off so we toggled after that.

It's so funny to see how the haters react when they see a team from the third world simply dominating and being the first one on top of CSGO nowadays. The conquest of the weak always bothers, eh? Call the guys are cheaters, keep doing it, but never forget that the bed is the best place to cry because i'ts warm!
