CS 1.6 update live
The new CS 1.6 update is now live. The changelog is as follows:
The update includes Steamworks features such as player avatars in the scoreboard when playing Counter-Strike and Condition Zero.
Bug Fixes
- Removed the need to manually re-login and re-authenticate to Steam while in game
- Fixed a crash on startup when running windowed with a non-standard desktop resolution
- Removed the display of saytext (in-game chat text) from players whom you've blocked in Steam friends
- Locked down several engine cvars to prevent malicious script exploits
- Enforced file consistency on several sprites in Counter-Strike
- Removed "ex_extrapmax" cvar (no longer needed)
Server
- Added "-noaff" command-line option to disable setting of thread affinity
- Added "bannedcfg" cvar so admins can choose which file is written to by the "writeid" command
About the demos we have some good news, it seems it is very easy to convert protocol 47 demos to protocol 48, we will get on this right away and get our entire demo archive converted as fast as possible.
Since the clients were updated, HLTV needs to be too, this might affect the first matches in tomorrows Global Challenge in Dubai, as they need to update as well, I will do my best to get our HLTV's update tonight, but there might be some problems during the first round tomorrow, so please have patience. The booking will also be offline till sometime tomorrow until everything is updated, make sure to get your CS servers updated as soon as possible so you can get the new version of HLTV on it.
